Hello everyone, thanks for visiting MTG Arena Zone! We hope you are enjoying the new expansion and our coverage of all the events going on so far. As you may already be aware, the new Companions are game-changing and making their way into many decks. To be set as your Companion at the beginning of the game, they must live in your sideboard and meet the deck building requirements stipulated on the card. Additional copies can still be put in the deck.
Issue #1
Firstly, Lurrus of the Dream-Den
(official name) is being exported as Lurrus of the Dream Den
in MTG Arena without a dash. Hopefully, this will be hotfixed on the client soon, but this means that you will get an error if you try to import a deck with Lurrus in it. For now, please export the decklist onto a text editor like Notepad, remove the dash and then import it onto MTG Arena.
Issue #2
When you import or export the any decklist with a set Companion, it is separated from the rest of the cards (similar to how Brawl decks work). Here is an example of the BO1 Zirda Cycling deck below. You will notice that Zirda is listed both in the Companion and the Sideboard section, but is still counted as a single copy of the card:
Companion 1 Zirda, the Dawnwaker (IKO) 233 Deck 4 Imposing Vantasaur (IKO) 17 4 Drannith Healer (IKO) 10 4 Drannith Stinger (IKO) 113 4 Flourishing Fox (IKO) 13 4 Glint-Horn Buccaneer (M20) 141 4 Go for Blood (IKO) 122 8 Mountain (IKO) 271 8 Plains (IKO) 262 4 Sacred Foundry (GRN) 254 4 Footfall Crater (IKO) 118 4 Sacred Foundry (GRN) 254 2 Coordinated Charge (IKO) 6 4 Valiant Rescuer (IKO) 36 4 Yidaro, Wandering Monster (IKO) 141 2 Zenith Flare (IKO) 217 Sideboard 1 Zirda, the Dawnwaker (IKO) 233
Currently, when you import decks from our website, the Companion section will be missing for now and will not automatically be set for you. This means you must set it manually from the sideboard.
Our partners over at Streamdecker are working on a fix for this issue and we apologize for the inconvenience. Follow us on Twitter for future updates!
