This deck has become a viable archetype in Core Set 2020 with the introduction of Kaalia, Zenith Seeker.
It is important to remember it is not an Angel, Demon or a Dragon itself, but the deck plays 11 Angels and 2 Dragons that allows her ability to reliably find a card.
The deck features a nice range of midrange creatures and the ability to gain a lot of life via Bishop of Wing, Sorin, Vengeful Bloodlord and even Deafening Clarion. This allows Mardu Angels to fare relatively well against Scapeshift decks, as the lifegain can buy time and flyers can go over zombie tokens to try and race them. It is also decent against Vampires as your creatures are generally bigger and difficult for them to deal with.
Downside of the deck is that the mana base can be quite fragile – there is some chance you may not be able to cast your cards due to the mana restriction, or lands may come into play tapped which can set you back a turn. Control decks are also a difficult matchup, so if you are facing a lot more Esper deck variations it may be best to avoid Mardu Angels.
It is unfortunate that the best Angels Resplendent Angel and Lyra Dawnbringer are rotating out of Standard soon, which might make this deck considerably weaker after rotation. However, there are also some decent Demons in Standard (e.g. Embodiment of Agonies, Spawn of Mayhem) that might be interesting to experiment with down the road.
