Standard Artisan – Midweek Magic Event Guide and Decklists
Hello everyone! Today we’re going to go over Standard Artisan decklists and event details! Artisan is one of my favorite formats as it feels like an interesting mix between Constructed and Limited which gives it unique game play experiences. I’m very big on new ways to play Magic, so Artisan coming back is always welcome. Since Standard has gotten so large, there’s a huge variety in fun and powerful archetypes so make sure to try out a few of these lists before it goes away!
As usual, players can enter the event for free, win some free Rare Individual Card Rewards (ICRs) and send a proof of your participation to your local game store (LGS) to obtain a Midweek Magic Promo Pack containing two cosmetic items.
Check out the full schedule of the Midweek Magic events as well as other MTG Arena events on our event calendar.
Welcome to Midweek Magic! Each week, try out a different way to play MTG Arena!
Today’s event is Artisan: Bring a 60-card Standard deck, but using only commons, uncommons, and basic lands. Without rares, the common folk can truly be heard!

HOW TO GET A REWARD CODE FROM YOUR STORE
Some stores have robust online communities, and others may be forming them for the first time. If you’re already part of such a community, great! Check with them and get connected.
If you aren’t part of a local game store’s online community, or if they don’t have one set up, there are a couple ways you can get connected. One is to simply reach out to your store and ask. Another is to head to locator.wizards.com to find your local game store’s website. Many of them have set up online communities through Discord, WhatsApp, and Facebook, so you may have to join or download one of those applications.
Here’s how it works:
- Play in the event (win or lose as much as you want)
- Take a screenshot of your event page
- Go to locator.wizards.com to find your local game store’s website
- Join their social media channel
- Share your screenshot with a nice message on their channel
- Your store will message you a code* through that social media channel
*Note: While supplies last. Not all stores are participating. Limit one code per account. Sharing a screenshot with your local game store does not guarantee you will receive a code.
If you cannot find an appropriate store or just don’t want to bother with the whole process, you can buy the codes directly from trusted MTG Arena code vendors such as Gray Viking Games. For a few dollars, you can instantly obtain the code to the MTG Arena Promo Pack as well as codes from other products such as Prerelease, Planeswalker decks, Secret Lair sleeves, and more. For more information of MTG Arena codes, consult our full guide. Be sure to check them out!
Standard Artisan Decklists (July 2021)
We have 7 brand new Standard Artisan decks for you to try for this event, as well as a fresh update on 4 others. Please find commentary on the new decks further below as well as the importable deck codes (press the “A” icon on the top right of each deck to copy) straight from this page!
We will add more as the event goes on! If you would like more inspiration, we have more:
- MTG Arena Budget Standard Decks: Our budget deck line ups have minimal rares and mythic rares and some are actually quite similar to the ones we have today.
- Standard Artisan Deck Database: Our complete deck collection for you to explore, if you want to explore older decks for ideas and updating.
First up with have a classic Monogreen aggro deck. Chock full of creatures and a few pieces of potent interaction, this deck is looking to bring the pain to the opponent quickly. Although most Artisan decks are fast, this deck has a lower curve than most and combined with the card quality should give you quick wins.
There’s a huge amount of one drops in Black now allowing you to make a rather potent aggro deck! This deck has a super low curve and a lot to do with it’s mana making it a potent threat against most decks!
On the other side of the coin, this Monoblack deck is looking to control the board and win by using one or multiple life draining enchantments! This modality of winning will be extremely slow so this is only for the most sadistic of players (you better believe I’m going to try this).
AFR brought multiple life gain matters cards making Clerics an enticing option. This deck is all about synergy so if the opponent can’t interact quickly, you can run away with the game early on.
Back to the Aggro side of things, Gruul has a great combination of acceleration, cheap threats, and cheap interaction to kill the opponent extremely quickly. If you like getting your games over quickly, this is where you should look.
Instead of going red in your Sacrifice deck, you could pivot Green instead! Golgari gives you a huge amount of interaction that wasn’t available in Red.
Furthermore, AFR gave us another great body to sacrifice in Shambling Ghast and another wincon in Warlock Class. If you like your games to be more puzzle like, this seems like a great bet.
The final deck of the list. Simic Ramp is looking to accelerate early and start launching threats out like it’s nobodies business. With the new Owlbear, Simic has a nice mid game bridge to be a roadblock against aggro and draw towards our large threats.
Thank you for reading! What decks are you most excited to try? Let us know in the comments!
