Naya Feather – A Brief Look at the Decklist
A quick look at the new variation of the Boros Feather deck, adding Green to finish off your opponent in a single blow.
Feather, the Redeemed is a popular card – it spawned the Boros Feather deck that made top 8 in two different Standard MagicFests (previously known as Grand Prix). For reference, below is Teruya Kakumae’s deck placing 3rd at MagicFest Taipei.
4 Tenth District Legionnaire (WAR) 222 4 Shock (M19) 156 3 Sheltering Light (XLN) 35 4 Sacred Foundry (GRN) 254 4 Reckless Rage (RIX) 110 8 Plains (WAR) 250 6 Mountain (WAR) 259 3 Legion Warboss (GRN) 109 2 Gideon Blackblade (WAR) 13 4 Feather, the Redeemed (WAR) 197 4 Dreadhorde Arcanist (WAR) 125 1 Dire Fleet Daredevil (RIX) 99 4 Defiant Strike (WAR) 9 4 Clifftop Retreat (DAR) 239 1 Ajani, Adversary of Tyrants (M19) 3 4 Adanto Vanguard (XLN) 1 3 Tocatli Honor Guard (XLN) 42 3 Prison Realm (WAR) 26 2 Lava Coil (GRN) 108 2 Ixalan's Binding (XLN) 17 1 Demystify (XLN) 8 2 Dire Fleet Daredevil (RIX) 99 2 Ajani, Adversary of Tyrants (M19) 3
If you are not too familiar with the deck, it plays creatures that synergize with cheap spells – recurring them with Dreadhorde Arcanist and Feather, the Redeemed and generating value with secondary effects such as drawing a card with Defiant Strike.
While scrolling through the Twitter @ArenaDecklists feed, among some typical deck archetypes that we see (now that Standard has established the meta and we have about a week for Core Set 2020 release) we came across something a bit more interesting and different…
Here is the importable decklist for MTG Arena below:
4 Sacred Foundry (GRN) 254 4 Clifftop Retreat (DAR) 239 1 Plains (XLN) 261 3 Collision // Colossus (RNA) 223 4 Tenth District Legionnaire (WAR) 222 4 Dreadhorde Arcanist (WAR) 125 4 Domri's Ambush (WAR) 192 4 Feather, the Redeemed (WAR) 197 2 Dire Fleet Daredevil (RIX) 99 4 Gruul Spellbreaker (RNA) 179 3 Giant Growth (WAR) 162 2 Sheltering Light (XLN) 35 3 Titanic Growth (M19) 205 2 Gideon Blackblade (WAR) 13 2 Dauntless Bodyguard (DAR) 14 4 Sunpetal Grove (XLN) 257 4 Temple Garden (GRN) 258 3 Stomping Ground (RNA) 259 3 Rootbound Crag (XLN) 256 2 Cindervines (RNA) 161 4 Lava Coil (GRN) 108 1 Sheltering Light (XLN) 35 1 Reckless Rage (RIX) 110 2 Shock (M19) 156 4 Tocatli Honor Guard (XLN) 42 1 Tajic, Legion's Edge (GRN) 204
Green adds Giant Growth, Titanic Growth and Collision // Colossus as the massive Green pump spells, and Gruul Spellbreaker is another excellent creature that is well protected on your own turn. The deck’s main difference to the Boros version is playing offensive spells that are able to deal more damage to the opponent at the right opportunity.
The deck author recommends you to play patiently, chipping at your opponent’s life total while you can and saving up your pump spells for lethal damage.
The Standard competitive metagame is full of Esper control decks and in combination with Teferi, Time Raveler, the deck might not be as well positioned if you are playing competitively. It definitely is one of the most fun decks to play at the moment though, and we are excited to see what tools Core Set 2020 might bring us to improve Feather, the Redeemed decks.
