Throne of Eldraine Spoiler – Early Morning Previews
This is a round up of the Throne of Eldraine spoilers so far today. We still have much more to come, so keep your eyes peeled!
Ayara, First of Locthwain

On close inspection, it looks like a 2/3 – still to be confirmed. Mono Black gets another creature to its arsenal. Dread Shade did not have an impact on Standard, but this has potential. Due to its restrictive mana cost it probably won’t find a home even in a dual colored deck, but Black now has enough tools to do something fun with aggro, sacrifice, midrange or even control strategies.
Take these hypothetical curves:
- Turn 1: Knight of the Ebon Legion / Gutterbones
- Turn 2: Yarok’s Fenlurker / Priest of Forgotten Gods
- Turn 3: Ayara, First of Locthwain / Embodiment of Agonies
- Turn 4: Dread Presence
- Turn 5: Doom Whisperer
Stolen by the Fae
Return target creature with converted mana cost X to its owners hand. Create X 1/1 Blue Faerie creature tokens with flying.
Very mediocre card – it’s narrow (only creatures), it’s a Sorcery and the number of Faeries you get don’t scale well with the required mana cost.
Syr Elenora, the Discerning
Syr Elenora’s power is equal to the number of cards in your hand.
When Syr Elenora enters the battlefield, draw a card.
Spells your opponents cast that target Syr Elenora, cost 2 more to cast.
The Blue Legendary Knight is a solid limited card – it’s harder to remove, and it replaces itself by drawing a card. The only requirement for it not to be a 0/4 wall is to keep your hand stocked up – which might be not so easy to do in limited, unless you are bag-holding 4 lands or something like that.
Chandra’s Triumph, Jaya’s Greeting and Lava Coil are all comparable cards – they all don’t go to the face like Lightning Strike can, however. Your choice of burn spell will be dependent on the creature cards in the metagame in Standard.
