Throne of Eldraine Spoiler – Eight Fairy Tale Themed Cards

Today’s spoilers have now started, and we kick things off with Daily MTG’s article – how the set came to life with its fairy tales themes that comes to Magic: The Gathering for the first time.
Welcome to the first week of Throne of Eldraine previews. Today, I’m going to walk you through how the set ended up being Camelot meets Grimms’ Fairy Tales. As last week’s article hinted at, it’s a story that took place over many years. I’ll be sharing that story today. Also, before today’s article wraps up, I’ll being showing off a number of cool preview cards.

We’ll be going over each of the cards below (there’s a repeat spoiler in here, though), but make sure you check out the article over at Wizards to read more on the cards’ flavors.
Once Upon a Time
Once Upon a Time is one of the better cards spoiled so far. Cards that cost nothing can readily be abused, especially in tabletop eternal formats like Modern and Legacy. Similar to Leylines, this card can offer card selection at the beginning of your game for free. We think that any kind of Green deck can fit this card in somewhere even in Standard as well.
Faerie Guidemother
Mono White Aggro or Azorious Flyers did not really need another one drop, and it does not fill the niche of Siren Stormtamer. It might be better than Loyal Pegasus though, but it’s a pity that the Adventure part is Sorcery. Most likely a limited filler card.
Wildwood Tracker
This card looks innocuous, but a one drop 2/2 is not terrible.
Turn into a Pumpkin
Can this be the replacement for Blink of an Eye? Maybe, since Food tokens can also stall the game for a bit.
Enchanted Carriage
This card also looks pretty good, as it can crew on its own. A total power of 6/6 for 5 mana is not terrible in limited.
The Others
Just some limited fillers, and we’ve seen Crystal Slipper already. The cards fit the fairy tale theme quite nicely!
