Traditional Historic Ranked Decklists: October 19, 2020

Below are the latest decks that won six or more matches in a row during MTG Arena’s ranked ladder by players at Platinum to Mythic ranking for October 19, 2020. The criteria for how these decks are chosen are detailed below:

Starting the week of September 21, we will begin publishing decklists that have put together long win streaks at Platinum rank or higher in Magic: The Gathering Arena‘s Ranked Play ladder. The goal is to supplement decklists from tournament results and social media with additional promising decklists for inspiration. We will publish these decklists once each week on the new decklist hub on Magic.gg, and plan to increase the publishing frequency in the future.

We will be publishing lists from Standard Ranked, Traditional Standard Ranked, Historic Ranked, and Traditional Historic Ranked play queues. Like we do for Magic Online Leagues, we will be posting an example list for each category of deck that share a minimum number of cards: at least 55 of 75 cards (across main deck and sideboard) shared in Traditional (best of three games, or Bo3) or at least 45 of 60 main deck cards shared in best of one (Bo1). All lists published will have won at least six consecutive matches.

Our goal is to best condense information, highlighting a mix of both strong and varied deckbuilding options. We will let you know if we adjust some of these parameters as we learn more from this data and gather your feedback.

Player information—your MTG Arena username—will not be associated with these decklists. If you are concerned about a deck you play being shared this way you can change a card in your main deck before you reach six or more consecutive match wins. Even swapping to a different basic land version or a new version of another card in your deck will suffice.

Traditional Historic Ranked Decklists: October 19, 2020

dom-207-teferi-hero-of-dominaria
Historic Azorius Control by Platinum-Mythic Rank Player – Traditional Historic Ranked Deck (6-0)

Same list as Montserrat Ayensa's deck from the 2020 Season Grand Finals that features Gideon of the Trials.

Historic Dimir Zombies by Platinum-Mythic Rank Player – Traditional Historic Ranked Deck (6-0)
Historic Dimir Zombies by Platinum-Mythic Rank Player – Traditional Historic Ranked Deck (6-0)

Who can resist ? A midrange creature shell, utilizing the Amass mechanic to generate two zombies with one card. You can probably improve the manabase, find a better removal suite than here and maybe even try some as well.

Allosaurus Shepherd Art by Randy Vargas
Historic Elves by Platinum-Mythic Rank Player – Traditional Historic Ranked Deck (6-0)

A nice concept for a deck, that utilizes +1/+1 counters, some untapping of your creatures to generate lots of mana, drawing cards and going in for a lethal attack.

Historic Esper Control by Platinum-Mythic Rank Player – Traditional Historic Ranked Deck (6-0)
Historic Esper Control by Platinum-Mythic Rank Player – Traditional Historic Ranked Deck (6-0)

This version of Esper Control has a bit of everything as we might expect from a typical control deck. It features three copies of Scholar of the Lost Trove and even Unburial Rites to bring it back into play.

standard-gruul-aggro
Historic Gruul Aggro by Platinum-Mythic Rank Player – Traditional Historic Ranked Deck (6-0)

A typical Gruul build with the return of Burning-Tree Emissary featuring Kargan Intimidator. It also has both Questing Beast and Collected Company.

Adeliz-the-Cinder-Wind-Dominaria-MtG-Art
Historic Izzet Wizards by Platinum-Mythic Rank Player – Traditional Historic Ranked Deck (6-0)

Sea Gate Stormcaller is a great addition to this deck from Zendikar Rising.

Historic Mono Black Control by Platinum-Mythic Rank Player – Traditional Historic Ranked Deck (6-0)
Historic Mono Black Control by Platinum-Mythic Rank Player – Traditional Historic Ranked Deck (6-0)

This unique deck falls somewhere in between midrange and control but it also has some aggro elements to it as well. It utilizes some efficient creatures such as Gifted Aetherborn and Nighthawk Scavenger, the Karn Wishboard for fetching silver bullets and of course Thoughtseize to tie the whole deck together.

Historic Mono Blue Mill by Platinum-Mythic Rank Player – Traditional Historic Ranked Deck (6-0)
Historic Mono Blue Mill by Platinum-Mythic Rank Player – Traditional Historic Ranked Deck (6-0)

Not sure if something went wrong here as it is a 75 card deck and there are a lot of questionable card choices and numbers. 4 Ruin Crab and 4 Teferi's Tutelage is a good start though!

Historic Mono Red Aggro by Platinum-Mythic Rank Player – Traditional Historic Ranked Deck (6-0)
Historic Mono Red Aggro by Platinum-Mythic Rank Player – Traditional Historic Ranked Deck (6-0)

A "one drop tribal" deck that is blistering fast. It can probably also utilize Obosh, the Preypiercer as your companion if desired.

Historic Rakdos Arcanist by Platinum-Mythic Rank Player – Traditional Historic Ranked Deck (6-0)
Historic Rakdos Arcanist by Platinum-Mythic Rank Player – Traditional Historic Ranked Deck (6-0)

A typical Rakdos Arcanist build but includes four copies of Scourge of the Skyclaves to power through your opponent without relying on the graveyard synergy too much.

archetype-sultai-ramp
Historic Sultai Midrange by Platinum-Mythic Rank Player – Traditional Historic Ranked Deck (6-0)

The traditional Sultai we are more familiar with from before Standard rotation with Uro, Nissa and Hydroid Krasis as the value engines with some controlling elements such as Casualties of War.

eld-226-lucky-clover
Historic Temur Adventures by Platinum-Mythic Rank Player – Traditional Historic Ranked Deck (6-0)

We can't have Lucky Clover in Standard anymore, so here it is in Historic. Everything else is Standard legal and there are no Historic-only cards either.
