Twitch Rivals is to host a MTG Arena Standard tournament spanning over two days from November 19 to 20 with a prize pool of $75,000. This will be the first competitive look at the Standard meta, straight after the November 18 banned and restricted announcement.
This tournament will feature 200 Twitch Partners and Affiliates in a structure similar to MagicFest/Grand Prix. They will be competing over 6 rounds of Magic on day 1 (applications first come first served), with a cut to the top 32 single elimination playoffs on day 2. Further details, including applications, regarding the tournament can be found here: https://link.twitch.tv/RivalsMTGA
Some candidates for Standard bans include the powerful green cards dominating Standard at the moment, specifically Oko, Thief of Crowns but players are also predicting the likes of Once Upon a Time and Nissa, Who Shakes the World to be included. Either way, this should make for an interesting tournament for viewers and players looking for decklists in an unknown metagame.
Twitch Rivals had previously hosted a MTG Arena tournament back in September, where they used the Standard 2020 format before the release of Throne of Eldraine with Jeff Hoogland taking the title with his Rakdos Aristocrats deck.
