Alchemy Wedding

Reached Mythic #1002 with my version of Orzhov for Alchemy BO1.

Card Choices:

[[Edgar, Charmed Groom]] and [[Wedding Invitation]] are the build-around cards for the deck, which gives us access to the orzhov defensive and removal cards and by themselves create sticky board states that allow for really creative ways to win.

With [[Sanguine Brushtstroke]] and [[Voldaren Bloodcaster]], we often get the Vampire-synergy buff from Edgar, and the whole board gets the buffs from [[Wedding Festivities]].

Removal: 5x Targeted removal, 6x Board wipes

[[Rite of Oblivion]] is the primary removal in the deck.  I played many games with 4-of and eventually found a split with [[Vanishing Verse]] that felt good for the moment.

3x [[Doomskar]] and 3x [[The Meathook Massacre]] for board wipes.

I futzed with the removal package countless times on my climb.  I think the truth is, like I heard Noxious say once, it really doesn\’t matter.  Sometimes this is gonna feel good and other times you end up with 3 Rites or Meathooks and just lose.  Point is, feel free to change up this package and let me know if you can suggest a better strategy here.

Matchup Tips:

UW Aggro / Clerics – Feels favored against the various W decks.  The key is usually getting on the board quick to block and using exile removal to get rid of [[Orah, Skyclave Hierophant]] or [[Pyre of Heroes]] closely followed by [[Righteous Valkyrie]].  Trying to save wipes and defend on board as long as possible since they can reload so often with [[Inquisitor Captain]].

Mono G / GR – Control strategy similar to W aggro.

Ux Control – Probably the most difficult matchup.  Rite for removal of [[Key to the Archive]] helps slow them down, but in general you just have to kill them before they can get Lier, Hullbreaker or Approach of the Second Sun.

Rx Dragons – Feels 50/50.  Role can change between defense and beat-down depending on the draw.  Card advntage is often key here so prioritize drawing and using [[Blood Tokens]] as often as you can.
