Today I’m bringing a real jank brew that revolves around the idea of drawing an insane amount of cards to find your win conditions relatively easily. This deck was inspired by jankyardmtg’s Locust Draw 2 deck. I changed it around a bit and threw in some things that I thought would be more useful or just personal preference. It’s a jank list. So don’t go in expecting it to blow away the competition.
This deck has three main win conditions:
1) Swarming out your opponent with a bunch of 1/1 or 8/8 tokens through Improbable Alliance, The Locust God, and Ominous Seas
2) Outpacing your opponent’s life total with a combination of above said tokens along with Irencrag Pyromancer and The Royal Scions -8.
3) Drawing through your entire deck using your draw cards in conjunction with Teferi’s Ageless Insight to win with Thassa’s Oracle or Jace, Wielder of Mysteries. This will be your most common win tbh.
Draw Cards:
Fire Prophecy – Opt – Chemister’s Insight – Thrill of Possibility – The Royal Scions – Sanctum of Calm Waters
TL;DR – Fire Prophecy has the benefit of being removal plus a ditch and draw allowing you to dump cards you don’t need back into your deck to draw something else. Chemister’s Insight makes a really good discard target for Thrill of Possibility and The Royal Scions +1. The Royal Scions are pretty easy to get to their ult considering they come in at 5 loyalty which is ridiculous for a three-mana Walker. Sanctum guarantees a 2x draw on your draw step triggering Alliance and Pyromancer immediately.
Draw Support:
Teferi’s Ageless Insight – The Locust God – Improbable Alliance – Irencrag Pyromancer – Jace, Wielder of Mysteries – Thassa’s Oracle – Ominous Seas
TL;DR – Between Alliance, Locust God, and Ominous Seas, you’ll be drawing enough cards to pump out tokens by the buttload. Jace and Oracle will be your most common ways of winning. Insight doubles your card draw letting you get to your stuff faster and pump out more tokens. Pyromancer is a 3 damage ping anything once you draw your second card each turn.
Misc:
Scorching Dragonfire
I like the exile effect on this, but this deck would probably be better served by putting in Jaya’s Greeting instead.
Under Consideration:
Niv-Mizzet, Parun
The Immortal Sun <—Would have to find a replacement for The Royal Scions if included.
