Mono blue Pheonix saw a slight bit of play last year being a rogue deck that was on the rise. Pheonix saw play in standard in October of 2019 by multiple pros and this list I have I’ve been playing off and on since then and fell in love with the deck. Since M21 dropped it brought silversmote Ghoul to the table to help pressure the enemy for a short clock easily being able to mill the entire deck out by turn 5 and 6. With the meta being slower ramp control decks and aggro decks, I believe that mono-blue phoenix can fit into a top spot in the meta.
Wincons
SilversmoteGhoul
Creeping Chill
Arclight Pheonix
With these cards, it’s going to be easy to mill right over them and cast 3 instants to bring back Pheonix which can easily deal 24 damage turn 4 if the correct cards are milled. Since this deck only wants to combo off the deck is almost unaffected by Teferi and counterspells it makes the deck hard to interact with forcing the opponent to either hope they live or hope they can follow up with a board wipe. sense phoenix can come back from the graveyard with Silversmote Ghoul with a creeping chill trigger it puts your opponents on their toes and forces graveyard hate to be able to sustain.
Pros+
+ easy to play and combo off
+ forces the opponent to have answers
+very aggressive turns
+plenty of draw power
Cons-
-Narset slows down combos preventing draws
-a fair amount of graveyard hate (cage and ooze)
-Drowned secrets is almost a must turn 2 play
I hope this guide helps, and that you find this deck as fun as I do having explosive combo turns.
