MTG Arena’s latest update for March of the Machine brings a tonne of improvements and fixes outside of the new cards! Check out the full patch notes below.
Game Update Highlights
March of the Machine is released! Take up the battle against the Phyrexians with new limited modes, store packs, Mastery Pass, Jump In! packets, and cosmetic bundles.
You can now open pre-styled cards in packs! Both the base card and the style will be added to your collection when you open them.
The Multiverse Legends cards in March of the Machine store and limited packs are pre-styled cards like this
This means that all reprints are duplicate protected against the cards you may already have in your collection, and the styles will work with them as well
Preferred Printing has leveled up and will now remember your preferred style for each card as well.
This means you can now choose, for each card, what style you want it to use by default in your collection and when you add it to decks
Notable Bug Fixes
Fixed a rare bug that could cause a draft pick to visually disappear from the pack
We’ve added an accessibility toggle for large rules text, which increases the minimum font size, and just adds a scroll bar. I’m going to be straight: this will make cards look kinda wonky sometimes, but wonky and readable might be an improvement for you.
Gameplay
Battles and Planeswalkers now have an icon tray! But only for Hexproof and Indestructible. If you give one of them flying I don’t care. I mean, it’s cool, but I’m not going to put an icon on it.
Initial pass on improving performance around Mondrak and lots of treasure. Still not where I’d like it to be, but maybe you should stop making as many tokens as you possibly can, and just win the game?
Because Battles make it a little more likely you’ll be attacking something that’s scrolled off the battlefield, we’ve reworked how attackers animate when attacking (or being blocked by) permanents that aren’t currently visible on screen.
After copying an opponent’s spell, we now hold priority to let you respond. So if, say, you’ve just had a copy of a removal spell get created to target Ivy, you have a chance to respond.
We had to make new “Prevent Damage” VFX for Battles. There were so many little things like that. Hopefully it’s all smooth enough that you don’t really notice.
The new Convoke VFX make little orbs fly around the card on the stack as you tap creatures, which looks pretty rad.
Battles can gain types, it’s supported, but SHOULD Battles gain types? No. I know I can’t stop you, but I want you to know you’re only hurting yourself.
There are a bunch of changes to how token copies of transforming permanents work with this release. Frankly a lot more than I want to list here. If you check the comprehensive rules, you can find them, and we made all of that work.
If you have Botanical Brawler in play, and putting a counter on a creature makes it otherwise identical to another creature (or stack of creatures) that creature will be added to the bottom of the stack to help ensure you put counters on the other creatures, just in case.
New “Do you pay the 1?” just dropped! An opponent controlling Elesh Norn (the one from MOM) forces you to manually assign damage, to make sure you don’t get charged for more than you want.
Regenerate uses the same VFX as Shield counters, which I realize isn’t the most thematically on point, but having two different methods of communicating “this won’t die when you kill it” also seemed bad, so for now this is the plan. I’m interested in feedback though.
As of MOM, “double faced cards” refers to transforming double-faced cards, modal double-faced cards, and meld cards. Just thought you should know.

Gameplay
When multiple creatures are targeted by Avacyn's Judgment (cast for its Madness cost) and one of them is given Hexproof in response, that creature used to still take damage on resolution of Avacyn's Judgment This didn’t happen very often, but now it won’t happen at all.
