In spirit of Outlaws of Thunder Junction‘s Wild West themes, Magic: The Gathering Japan is having a collaboration campaign with the classic anime Cowboy Bebop, featuring characters from the set in its neo-noir space style remake opening trailer.
Check out what products are on offer, and how to obtain them in this article! There will be three phases of the campaign – who knows, MTG Arena might be getting them in cosmetic form too.
Campaign 1
From April 26, 2024 to March 31, 2025, for every 3,000 Yen purchase of products released after January 2021 (Kaldheim and later) at a Japan WPN store, you will receive one of the five Cowboy Bebop x Magic: The Gathering Postcards.
In some postcard packs, it will contain a voucher for a super exclusive (only 1,000 winners) playmat or a sleeve instead.
The artwork on these products are inspired by the special Cowboy Bebop opening homage trailer for the collaboration, that can be found on the official Magic: The Gathering Japan’s YouTube channel.
There are 160 sleeve sets available for each design.
Campaign 2
The second phase of the collaboration campaign will involve the distribution of five promotional cards, instant spells for each color, based on the artwork from the trailer.
Official details on how these can be obtained are yet to follow, but good news for English users as beginning August 2, you can obtain them by playing in weekly Standard Showdown events to be held at local WPN stores.

The third campaign will be held at the Players Convention Aichi 2024, to be held in Tokoname City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan on May 25th and 26th. Another exclusive playmat design will be distributed here as prizes for events. It will be available only at this event in limited numbers, depending on player numbers.
