Magiccon Atlanta Georgia 2025, Magiccon is one of the biggest and most awaited events packed with news, collaborations, announcements, fans gathering for a hobby loved so deeply, so here we are Magiccon Atlanta 2025 let’s do a full recap.

For the upcoming 2026 we got more information about the upcoming sets that are going to be releasing next year:

And for the holidays we got a big surprise with more Final Fantasy lineup products.

These are different editions of Final Fantasy in these Scene packs, ranging from Final Fantasy I, Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy IX and finally is Final Fantasy XV

and a special Final Fantasy VII commander deck edition, with a special code with the original PC version of Final Fantasy VII and alternative art for Midgar Mercenary”].

Lorwyn Eclipsed

Taking a look at Morningtide’s Light, this is a special callback to the Morningtide set,

Exile any number of target creatures, At the beginning of the next end step, return those cards to the battlefield tapped under their owner’s control.

Until your next turn, prevent all damage that would be dealt to you.

This is a wide effect that can pick creature from either player side and take advantage of ETB effects or removing blockers for a wide swing attack, and still protecting you from incoming damage on the opponents turn, this is a great card.

And now presenting Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn || Isilu, Carrier fo Twilight

Is this a confirmation that persist will make a return? but what we know for sure the development and design of Lorwyn Eclipsed is really thought through so far.

And for a personal favorite making an appearance is Ashling, Rekindled || Ashling, Rimebound

And Bitterblossom in creature form Bitterbloom Bearer.

And don’t get me started on Rebecca Guay’s alternative version of this card.

Emptiness coming in with a mana used to cast effect, and a return for Evoke.

Mutable Explorer with an ETB effect creating Mutavault token, now picture this with Morningtide’s Light?

And a Figure of Destiny callback turned into Figure of Fable, what was once the evolution of a creature turning into something more powerful.

Ashling’s Command a New Izzet Command introduced.

And Double sided lands with the remaining of the shocklands needed on standard

And this is the product lineup for Lorwyn Eclipsed you might see there is a special product called Draft Night more to be disclosed as we get to release, but probably is going to be a draft night event to use this product and be on set theme.

So far this set is all about rending tribute to Lorwyn in an updated MTG form, staying true to its lore, worldbuilding and characters.

Reality Fracture

Reality Fracture is an upcoming set on Octuber 2026, much hasn’t been told yet, Mark Rosewater himself is telling us “This set has a really innovative thing.” and tiptoe around the landmarks theme of this upcoming set but in my opinion this all leads to Future Sight or Time Spiral themed set, where some reality shift takes place and MTG events unfold differently and Maybe Mirrodin never lost to Phyrexia in the first place, What that Mirrodin would have looked like, this is much theory on my side, but given this name I firmly believe at the very least Split Second is making a return.

Star Trek

Star Trek making a first appearance on Magic form, Universes Beyond: Star Trek is the seventh set of 2026 lineup, Starship Enterprise is coming in card form, and from all stories both Heroes and Villains, Captains and Antagonists are present, from all of Star Trek New World, and Beyond.

Full Recap

Well now that we got a broader picture of what is to come 2026, Lorwyn Eclipsed looks incredible so far, both mechanics and art design and overall gameplay design is solid, much of the essence of Lorwyn is present so far, but back then Planeswalkers were first introduced, I am a little eager to see what R&D has for us in the Planewalkers department. Reality Fracture smells to me a rendition to Time Spiral were a part of the MTG lore is either re-written or looked through an alternate series of events.

Maybe in one of these set for Reality Fracture we might see a return for Garruk, or maybe he is going to be attending Strixhaven that would be an interesting series of events. but lets not avoid the obvious given these are all amazing sets and WoTC is doing an amazing job in developing these sets, this feels a bit drift away from MTG lore and sets we are only getting two or three sets per year in MTG proper lore, given that I am a big Final Fantasy fan, I am more than pleased to the rendition developed towards the franchise, but first we are MTG fans, and yes equipping the Buster Sword on Lightning is fun and giggles, ultimately we want more Magic: The Gathering lore development.
