On November 12, Magic Arena has seen the release of yet another Historic-only set, Kaladesh Remastered. It injected 303 cards from original Kaladesh and Aether Revolt sets that were initially released in paper in late 2016 and early 2017. Powerful staples like Chandra, Torch of Defiance, Rogue Refiner, Heart of Kiran, Unlicensed Disintegration – among others – have strengthened MTG Arena’s eternal format, and day one has seen a ton of experimentation among the players and streamers.
Among the first day brews, two archetypes stand out when it comes to their power and popularity. Temur Energy deck is a tribute to the namesake dominating archetype of Kaladesh Standard. It comes in two variations, either built around the pure creature-based value or by making use of Aetherworks Marvel. Another fan favourite is the Paradox Engine colorless artifact decks that are in current Historic can be enabled by Karn, the Great Creator and Mystic Forge.
Chandra, Torch of Defiance is arguably the best Chandra planeswalker ever printed, and we saw her being utilized in many various builds today – from Temur Midrange decks, to Rakdos, to Mono-Red Aggro lists. Sram, Senior Edificer has allowed Historic Auras deck to never run out gas, while Scrapheap Scrounger fit right into Mono-Black Aggro builds as a powerful recurring threat.
Check out the variety of decklists from Day 1 below! As a usual disclaimer – please stay aware that most of these lists are untested and it would be unwise to invest wildcards in them at this point, especially if you’re are on a budget. Otherwise, please enjoy the Kaladesh Remastered, and don’t forget to claim a free pack with ‘TryKaladesh’ code, as well as free basics from the store!
