Today is Wednesday, which means Wizards of the Coast has published another of their once-weekly MTG Arena Announcements blog posts. In this continuing series, Wizards gives the community an update on things that are happening on the Arena client. Over the past week, the focus of the MTG world has been on the ongoing preview season for Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty, which releases on Arena Friday, February 11.
If you haven’t been keeping up with the spoilers, you can find all of the spoilers from each day on our Daily Roundup series:
With so much hype and attention on the new Neon Dynasty cards, there are no major changes or big news stories that were announced in today’s bulletin. Rather, most of the Arena Announcements for today are reminders of information that was first presented in last week’s announcements, but we’ll give a quick overview of those reminders below.
Incoming Bug Fix: Rebalanced Card Styles
There is one new piece of information from today’s bulletin that may be of interest to players who have been trying out the new Alchemy format: card styles that players have purchased or unlocked are apparently unable to be applied to Alchemy and Historic cards that have been rebalanced. Wizards now says this is an unintended bug, and that card styles will be compatible with the rebalanced versions after a fix rolls out with the Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty update on February 10.
Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty Preorders Continue until February 10
Last week, Wizards of the Coast unveiled the full details of the three preorder bundles for Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty right as they went on sale. Today, Wizards reminds us that the three bundles will be available right until the day before the set releases, Thursday, February 10.
We went through all of the specifics of the bundles in last week’s post, but we’ll go over them quickly here:
The Wanderer Play Bundle:
“The Wandering Emperor” sleeve (unlocked on purchase)
Kaito Shizuki “depth art card” on set release (card cosmetic)
Pompon-chan Cosmetic Bundle:
Pompon-chan pet
Pompon-chan sleeve
Three Pompon-chan stickers
Double Feature Draft Continues Until February 10
Double Feature, a draft environment that combines Innistrad: Midnight Hunt and Innistrad: Crimson Vow, is live now on Arena and will be continuing until the Neon Dynasty update on February 10. We’ve got a great guide for interested players that will help give you a sense of the unique limited format:
Apparently, there is also a bug affecting the entry rewards for the event. Each entry is supposed to unlock a different Dracula card art style; however, no card styles are being granted for entries after the first. Wizards says that each entry after the first will reward two card styles as compensation for the issue, but that the styles won’t be granted until after the update ends the Double Feature event on February 10.
That covers all of the main points from today’s announcements – next week, we’ll be returning just before the release of Neon Dynasty and there should be more info about the set and related events at that time. Concerning today’s announcements, you’ll find the full text of Wizard’s original post embedded below, which also includes a schedule of events and details on the February ranked season.
Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty Preorder Bundles Available until February 10!
Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty preorder bundles are available right now in MTG Arena! But they’re only here until February 10, so be sure to get yours now before they’re gone.
Kaito Shizuki depth art card style (granted upon set release)
Pompon-Chan Cosmetic Bundle
Also available in the MTG Arena Store is the Pompon-chan cosmetic bundle! You’ll get all of these immediately upon purchase:
Pompon-chan pet
Pompon-chan sleeve
3x Pompon-chan stickers
Double Feature Draft
Now through February 10, join in a monster of a draft event, featuring a special blend of both Innistrad: Midnight Hunt and Innistrad: Crimson Vow cards. In the Double Feature Draft, you can also get Dracula card styles!
Note: We’re aware of the bug that causes only a single card style to be offered. We’ll be granting two card styles to accounts for each entry beyond the first as an upgrade for the inconvenience. These will be granted during the week after the release of Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty on February 10.
Bug Fix Coming: Card Styles on Rebalanced Cards
There is a bug that prevents card styles from being applied to rebalanced cards, and we want to assure players that card styles should and will work with rebalanced cards. A fix is in the works to correct this issue and will be released with the launch of Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty on February 10.
