Players have been trying to solve Pioneer with various decks since the RC season was Pioneer this time. They tried it with various decks, for example Rakdos Midrange or Mono-Green devotion which are the most played decks according to our data. Marc Tobiasch chose Storm Herald Combo which is a deck that has existed as a meme in the format but they took it onto the competitive field with a staggering 9-0 record on day 1!

The idea of the deck is quite simple. You want to get Colossification and Burning Anger into the graveyard, cast Storm Herald, animate it with Colossification and Burning Anger from your graveyard and deal 24 damage to your opponent as soon as turn 3!

This gameplan is supported with cards that are able to mill you (Satyr Wayfinder, Merfolk Secretkeeper or Otherworldly Gaze), find creatures (Traverse the Ulvenwald) or both (Gather the Pack). The rest of the deck contains cards that are able to dig more through your deck to find the combo pieces while also being strong on their own (Fable of the Mirror-Breaker, Ledger Shredder and Scrapwork Mutt).

Now we wait for day 2 results to come in! I wish good luck to all pilots of this deck since I am always down for off-meta decks to do well! Stay tuned for the data analysis of this tournament, thanks for reading the article and see you soon!
