MTG Arena 2022.18.0 Patch Notes

MTG Arena Patch 2022.18.0 Notes are finally out, almost a week after its release. We have the Historic Anthology 6 and Explorer Anthology 1 release, new store items, some UI changes, as well as some bug fixes. Full patch notes are transcribed below.

Game Update Highlights

  • Historic Anthology 6 and the first ever Explorer Anthology have been released! 
  • Added 2 new pets to the store: A Sol Ring and the bold, beautiful Brushwagg!
  • The main nav bar has been visually updated to feature icons as well as titles for the tabs

General

  • The deck builder can now filter for Historic and Explorer Anthologies
  • Direct Challenge now shows a list of the last 5 people you challenged (to save typing)
  • New contents have been added to the MWM cosmetic chest
  • Tuned up the Owl pet from Theros Beyond Death
  • Added a new enter-the-battlefield animation for the Thopter pet

Gameplay

  • Ward now shows up on the same line as other keywords. Scrollbars begone (in English).
  • There are now VFX on the graveyard when Ancient Brass Dragon does its thing.

Bug Fixes

General

  • Fixed a bug where the deckbuilder would sometimes report improper ownership counts for cards that also had rebalanced versions, leading to a variety of confusing deckbuilder situations
  • Fixed a bug where Play Blade would sometimes forget the player’s prior selection and default to something else
  • Fixed another bug that could result in a small number of players being unable to complete the 5th node of some Color Challenges
  • Fixed a bug where the borderless styles for Tasha, Unholy Archmage; Minsc & Boo, Timeless Heroes did not display properly on deckboxes
  • Fixed a bug that could cause imported, invalid decks to be assigned to an improper format
  • Fixed an error with Midweek Magic reward bubbles appearing incorrectly after leaving a match
  • Corrected artist credit on Ukiyo-e mountain.
  • Updated artist for the TOHO style Crystalline Giant.

Gameplay

  • Giving a permanent type to a card with both a permanent and non-permanent (like an Adventure) was putting that permanent type on the non-permanent visually, but not in the rules. It now displays correctly.
  • There was an issue where split cards that were bounced from the stack back to the hand became unselectable in hand. That’s been fixed.
  • Fixed playing MDFC lands with Nashi/Bolas’s Citadel
  • There was a crash if you copied Rocco’s ability with X=0, which doesn’t make any sense to do and never happened, but it’s fixed.
  • MDFCs that had been granted Blitz were showing extra costs on the back side. That isn’t happening anymore!
  • Fixed a bug with the alignment of Murderous Rider’s ETB VFX
  • Fixed a bug where the VFX for Kaya's Wrath could clip into the battlefield
  • Fixed some missing textures in the ETB animation for Niv-Mizzet, Parun
  • Fixed a bug that caused the party VFX to not properly follow the stack when it gets minimized
