Details, guide, and complete decklists of the Pioneer Challenger Decks 2022 (Izzet Phoenix, Dimir Control, Gruul Stompy, and Orzhov Humans) in Magic: The Gathering.
Pioneer Challenger Decks 2022 are a set of preconstructed decks designed for tabletop players that wish to start competitive tournament play right out of the box for the Pioneer format. Releasing on November 4, 2022, there are four decks in total, containing a 60-card main deck, 15-card sideboard, as well their associated tokens.
Due to ongoing supply chain disruptions, we are moving the release date of Pioneer Challenger Decks 2022 for Europe to December 9, 2022. The previously announced date of November 4, 2022, remains for all other regions.
Please note, this is paper-only product. Each deck was built to represent Pioneer archetypes that you might find in the metagame at the time of their design, and thus may not be suitable for online play due to the time passed since then. You can find each of the complete four decklists below.
Note that the Izzet Phoenix Pioneer Challenger Deck 2022 decklist includes two copies of Expressive Iteration, a card currently banned in Pioneer.
This deck will still be legal for tournament play in tabletop Magic: The Gathering for Pioneer, but only as is. Specifically, the 60-card deck and 15-card sideboard will be legal as long as no changes are made to it.
