Hey everyone! Unfortunately, my spring break is coming to close, but that just means there is more time for me to focus on Magic. (or real life…whatever) I’m sure you’re all thrilled to know that it is, once again, time for another Midweek Magic. This week we are going to be playing Brawl Builder Challenge.
As I am writing this, I am unsure of what the list of commanders for this event is. WotC hasn’t updated their Midweek Magic page in awhile and I only know what the name of the event is based off of the Arena Announcements. That means I am doing my best off of past situations and hopefully it ends up being correct or I am going to be doing some furious last-minute rewrites. The announcements also say that the event is only for two days instead of the customary three so I’m going to go ahead and assume that it is the normal length.
Anyway, the whole thing with Brawl Builder Challenge is that it is (formerly Historic) Brawl with a limited subset of commanders. Usually that only include ones from the latest set so I am doing these from Aetherdrift.
Event Details
Choose one of our Aetherdrift commanders and build a 100-card Brawl deck using any cards in MTG Arena (excluding those on the Brawl banned list)! (I literally made this up based off of past ones, who knows, it might be right)

Good old classic mono red is usually a good bet to lay some beats in MWM. This is mostly a modified Ragavan deck (don’t worry the monkey is still in the deck) with Hazoret as the commander. You could also play Tyrox, Saurid Tyrant as the commander if you just want to hit hard and not worry about the start your engines mini game.
This is a popular Brawl deck even without the restrictions so it stands to reason that we would just run it out here as well. You can draw a ton of cards all while exiling all of your opponent’s cards, trust me they love that.
You can’t go wrong with a cat theme and that’s what Basri is about. Dump a pile kitties on to the battlefield and jack them up with anthem effects to rip your opponent to shreds.
The ultimate budget deck for any of these events. The commander doesn’t really matter besides the fact that it is an uncommon that might occasionally come up.
