festival-of-the-fae

Festival of the Fae will be on for the month November! MTG Arena will be holding three special events, – one per week – beginning November 3, that players can enter to win Showcase Card Styles from Throne of Eldraine.

These are variants of the Adventure cards in Throne of Eldraine and there are 30 you can collect in total. You can see the full gallery of them here. 15 of these are already available from the in-game Store, introduced in the 1.01.00 game update. The other 15 (all highly constructed playable) will be available as rewards from these series of events!

For each event, you pay 2500 gold or 500 gems to enter and play as much as you like during the event. Each win up to five wins rewards a Showcase Card Style you can use to bling up your deck. As is the tradition of course, MTG Arena Zone will be providing a full guide and decklists for each of these events before they go live.

The format for this event will be called Artisan, the next level up from Pauper – we can use both commons and uncommons from Standard sets. They also decided to ban the suspected most powerful cards that could dominate the event – Persistent Petitioners, Cauldron Familiar, Cavalcade of Calamity and Gates Ablaze.

Chapter 2: Oko’s Madness

November 10, 2019 @ 8:00 AM PT – November 13, 2019 @ 8:00 AM PT

This event marks the return of Momir for Throne of Eldraine, with a slight twist. Last time Momir was around, we saw some new creatures added to the creature pool to give it a bit of diversity, and they will still be around for this event. In addition to this, all summoned creatures become 3/3 Elks and you also don’t get creatures over converted mana cost of 8. This means that creatures with abilities will be the king of the format, and you can start creatures as early as turn 1 to pressure your opponent.

Chapter 3: Cascade

November 17, 2019 @ 8:00 AM PT – November 20, 2019 @ 8:00 AM PT

Cascade is back! Each time you cast your first spell, you get to cast another spell from the top of your deck for free that costs less. This makes for some crazy games but given the current card pool, we anticipate green decks will be the best decks with all the ramping. Some “food” for thought while we wait for the event!
