Hey everyone! I’m still living off that Final Fantasy hype and playing WAAAYYYY too much Magic lately (at least that’s what my wife says). It seems like I just did one of these, but someone must have cast haste because it is once again time for another Midweek Magic. Hey, if you were expecting something other than terrible dad jokes, you might be in the wrong place.
This week we will be doing Final Fantasy Brawl Builder. They used to call these Brawl Builder Challenges before suddenly changing it to just Brawl Builder on the Arena Announcements. I’m guessing someone pointed out that the short version of it had another meaning. IYKYK, but I’m certainly not going to explain it because kids read this. We’ll see what the actual title is when the event launches.
These events typically are normal Brawl (formerly known as Historic Brawl) with the usual ban list. The only difference is that you are restricted on your choice of commander to the ones from the set. The Final Fantasy set is loaded with legends so you won’t have any shortage of options, but I’ll hook you up with some of my favorites.
Yeah, yeah, you cast mute (or silence depending on what FF gen you are) on me so I’ll hush up and you can get some deck lists…
Event Details
Choose one of our Final Fantasy commanders and build a 100-card Brawl deck using any cards in MTG Arena (excluding those on the Brawl banned list)!

Ends After: You can play as much as you like for the duration of the event.
Honestly you could change this out with any other cheap aggressive red commander such as Prompto Argentum. It’s just the normal Ragavan build ported into MWM with a different commander (and the monkey in the main).
Vivi has been making a huge impression on multiple formats including Brawl. That means this isn’t even a modded up version for this event, just a normal Brawl deck.
While you can’t sacrifice Aerith, you can sacrifice pretty much everything else that shows up. You rack up the value while your opponent slowly (and sometimes suddenly) watches their life drift away.
Do you like to one hit KO your opponent? Well so does Tifa and she’s damn good at it. I was play testing this the other day and had plenty of turn 3 and 4 kills.
