Momir – Midweek Magic Event Guide

Hey everyone! As Forrest Gump said, “Life was like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get”. That is the best way to explain this week’s Momir event. Some people love the event while some people think it is everything that has ever gone wrong with Magic.

Momir is very simple. Your entire deck is basic lands and you have an emblem that let’s you pay x mana to discard a card to create a random creature of that casting cost. There really isn’t that much strategy involved, but I’ll go over what little there is after some event info.

Event Details

Use the emblem, discard a card, and pay X to create a token copy of a random creature card with mana value X. Every turn is a surprise!

• Duration: January 6th, 2026 @ 2:00 PM PST to January 8th, 2026 @ 2:00 PM PST
• Format: Momir
• Entry Fee: Free
• Ends After: You can play as much as you like for the duration of the event.
• Match Structure: Best-of-one matches (BO1)

Event Rewards

General Strategy

The general consensus is that eight is the magic number for the casting cost that you want to get up to and keep making creatures at. Without hitting any mana rampers or card draw, that means you want to start using the emblem on turn three if you’re on the play and turn two if you’re on the draw.

Combat math can be really important here. You don’t have to worry about any tricks that aren’t on board since the decks are all land. Take the time and figure it out.

Obviously, there is a lot of luck involved. Any form of early ramp can put you so far ahead of your opponent, but in most games it is really who hits on those late game rolls that matter.
