Another week means another MTG Arena Announcements blog from Wizards of the Coast. As always, we’ll be providing a summary of all of this week’s information – although this time, nearly everything Wizards had for us amounts to a review of information that was first given to us in last week’s announcements.
We’ll get started by covering anything new from this week, and then we’ll quickly go over all of the previously known details that Wizards wanted to reinforce.
Just for Fun: Streets of New Capenna Quiz
As we draw closer to the release of Streets of New Capenna, the new mobster-themed set coming at the end of April, Wizards of the Coast is looking to continue building the hype. In this week’s announcements, they included a notice about a Streets of New Capenna quiz available now on their official website.
The quiz is meant to determine which of New Capenna’s crime families you belong to, and completing it will also earn you a special card sleeve for whichever family your results align with.
Reminder: Streets of New Capenna Preorders Available Now
Last week, Wizards introduced the Streets of New Capenna “Pack” and “Play” preorder bundles for the first time. Both bundles are now available for purchase on Arena for $49.99. The contents of the bundles are as follows:

- Elspeth Resplendent sleeve (available at purchase)
- 50x Streets of New Capenna packs (granted upon set release)
- 1x Elspeth Resplendent card (granted upon set release)
- Elspeth Resplendent depth art card style (granted upon set release)
Play Bundle:
- Ob Nixilis, the Adversary sleeve (available at purchase)
- Construct pet (available at purchase)
- Set Mastery Pass (granted upon set release)
- 3x Player Draft Tokens (granted upon set release)
- 1x Sealed token (granted upon set release)
- 1x Ob Nixilis, the Adversary card (granted upon set release)
- Ob Nixilis, the Adversary depth art card style
Reminder: New Options for Deck Cosmetics
Last week’s update also added a feature to Arena that allows players to select a particular Avatar and Pet to be associated with individual decks instead of just the card sleeves as before. The functionality to add a favorite basic land type hasn’t been added yet, but Wizards says their team is actively working on it.
Reminder: Alchemy Balancing
Last Thursday, Wizards also implemented the latest set of balancing changes for the Alchemy format. Wizards included a reminder of these changes in today’s announcements; you can find a detailed breakdown of these changes at the link below:
Upcoming Events: Arena Open, Tinkerer’s Cube
Lastly, Wizards provided a reminder of two major events coming to Arena: The Tinkerer’s Cube, a limited “Phantom Draft” event that will be running from April 15-28, and the Arena Open beginning this Saturday, April 16.
Looking for more information about the Tinkerer’s Cube? We have a draft guide available here:
Meanwhile, the Arena Open will be featuring the Historic format, and will take place on April 16-17. More details about this month’s Open can be found on the official event page.
That covers everything from this week – things are pretty quiet for now while we wait for Streets of New Capenna, but they’ll no doubt be heating up soon as Wizards preps for the set’s release. In the meantime, you can find the full text of today’s announcements from Wizards embedded below, which includes an updated schedule of events on Arena and details on the ongoing April ranked season.
