Hi! I am Vertyx, and I would like to welcome you to my Mythic Decks of the Week article for the fourth week of November 2023! I will go over the most interesting decks that made it to Mythic on MTG Arena in the fourth week of November! Let’s take a look at all the decks that people reached Mythic with!
First deck to take a look at is Alchemy Gruul Dinosaurs by our very own Altheriax!
The Lost Caverns of Ixalan has brought us a lot of powerful dinosaurs and Altheriax combined the strongest ones into a Gruul Alchemy deck! As with most Gruul decks, this one also starts their turns with ramp cards and in this case they are represented by Delighted Halfling, Bramble Familiar and Intrepid Paleontologist.
Then there are the creatures that you are going to cast right after your ramp cards. Some of them also ramp like Hulking Raptor, some of them help you remove creatures like Itzquinth, Firstborn of Gishath and some of them let you sink mana into them as the game progresses like Huatli, Poet of Unity.
And the top end includes some bombs like Doors of Durin that can get you a free creature whenever you attack, Trumpeting Carnosaur that will get you a free card to cast thanks to its discover mechanic and the same goes for Etali, Primal Conqueror which instead of a single card gets you 2 to cast for free!
Moving down the list, lets take a look at Alchemy 5c Legends by Johann Walraven!
This deck combines all of the strongest legends in alchemy so it can use one of the strongest cards for this archetype which is Jodah, the Unifier. Since the “best” payoff of the deck costs 5 mana, the deck naturally has ramp cards so it can get there sooner and they include Delighted Halfling and Gwenna, Eyes of Gaea.
The last Alchemy deck to take a look at is Dimir Flyers by Kowazi!
This deck uses a lot of new evasive threats from The Lost Caverns of Ixalan so it can slice through the battlefield without the need to care for blockers! A lot of them are very cheap and they include cards like Spyglass Siren, Sleep-Cursed Faerie, Deep-Cavern Bat or Malcolm, Alluring Scoundrel where they all let you put on pressure very early!
Of course the deck also includes some more expensive flyers like Kitesail Larcenist, Halo Forager or the most important one which is Bloodletter of Aclazotz since it virtually doubles the power of all your cheap flyers whenever they get to connect!
And the last deck to cover is Explorer Abzan Amalia Company by Barbarossa91!
This deck takes an advantage of a 2 card combo that lets you swing for 20 damage in a single turn when you get to execute it! It involves Wildgrowth Walker which gains you life whenever you explore and Amalia Benavides Aguirre which explores whenever you gain life.
With both on the battlefield you basically just need to gain a single point of life which will trigger a chain reaction that will let you explore as many times as you want until Amalia Benavides Aguirre hits 20 power, then its ability will wipe the battlefield so it can safely connect for 20 damage right after!
As with most combo decks, the rest of the deck is filled with support so you’re more likely getting to the combo. Some of them consist of ramp spells like Gilded Goose and Prosperous Innkeeper when they on top of ramping also let you trigger the combo.
They also include Extraction Specialist that lets you reanimate your combo pieces. And probably the 2 most important support cards, Collected Company and Chord of Calling which let you get to your combo pieces at instant speed!
