Table of Contents
Distribution and Collection
The Mystical Archive cards are similar to the Masterpiece Series associated with previous expansions, such as Kaladesh Inventions. However, this time the cards are distributed in every pack: There will be one copy from its own dedicated slot in each Draft Booster and each Set Booster, and at least three in each Collector Booster.
In total, there are 63 Mystical Archive cards, Cards come in uncommon, rare and mythic rare rarities, even if the card was previously at common rarity such as Opt. All uncommon cards are in the current Standard format.with the odds of appearing as follows:
- 18 uncommons: 67%
- 30 rares: 26.4%
- 15 mythic rares: 6.6%
In MTG Arena, Mystical Archive can also be collected like the normal cards by opening packs or crafted using Wildcards! They will be included in both the 15-card Draft and Sealed packs to mirror the paper Magic environment, and in the standard 8-card packs (purchased from the store or earned through play) it replaces a common slot.

Japanese Variants
Each of the 63 Mystical Archive cards will also have its own Japanese variant version that can be found in the Japanese Draft, Set, and Collector Boosters, and at least one will come in Collector Boosters in all languages.
In MTG Arena, they will be available as card styles of their original versions. More information on how they can be acquired is to be revealed in a later update.

Set Legality
Mystical Archive comes in every booster pack, making them legal for Limited (Sealed and Draft) play. They are curated as such that they will have a greater influence on the format.
These cards are not part of the main set, and only legal in the format they are original allowed in. In MTG Arena, they will be made legal for the Historic as the client’s eternal format.
Cards Not Legal in Historic
The following 7 cards will be excluded from Historic due to power-level concerns (source):
- Swords to Plowshares
- Counterspell
- Dark Ritual
- Demonic Tutor
- Lightning Bolt
- Channel
- Natural Order
These cards are still added to your collection if you open them in packs and can be crafted using Wildcards if desired.
For now, they can be used in friendly direct challenge modes, some specialty events, and against Sparky.
