This promotion has now finished, and the rewards will be distributed within the next 72 hours. All players who entered will receive a prize, according to the placement of the player in the tournament. For final standings, check out the Magic World Championship tournament hub.

Starting February 14, the 26th Magic: The Gathering World Championship is being held in Hawaii. This annual tournament pits 16 of the best players in the world for their share of a massive $1 million prize pool. It was previous announced that this tournament is being held on MTG Arena for the first time, and the format has just been revealed that it will be Draft and Standard!

As a build up to the competition, Wizards of the Coast are offering people to pick their favorite player, and win rewards for MTG Arena depending on how far they go in the tournament. This is a fantastic promotion that gives more exposure to the competitive scene and the personalities behind it.

You can enter by going to the official event website here:

Keep in mind the promotion ends 11:59 PM PT on February 12, so make sure to enter before that date. For those that want to maximize their chances of winning and go into the giveaway a bit more informed, each day there will be a video unlocked for the 16 players starting with Javier Dominguez (last year’s champion) today. Someone has even compiled the win rates of the competitors on reddit!

My pick was Seth Manfield who was responsible for taking Mythic Championship VII by storm with an innovative Simic Flash / Ramp hybrid deck to take advantage of the strongest and most played deck of the tournament, Jeskai Fires. Who will you pick? Let us know in the comments below!

Last I looked the strongest deck in the tournament was Jund Sacrifice, which Glogowski went undefeated with against the Simic players.

Yes but with a whole new meta, it’s really hard to say who has the advantage right now. I’m going with javier because hes been on fire this last couple years, but seth was a close second.

Have anyone already received the prize?
