Jump into Tarkir: Dragonstorm – Midweek Magic Event Guide

Hey everyone! While we’re all jumping at the bit to play with all the new cards from Tarkir: Dragonstorm, we do have a Midweek Magic launching on the same day. Luckily the theme is Jump into Tarkir: Dragonstorm so we get to play with the new cards anyway. On top of that, it’s free so you don’t have to worry about not having any of the cards.

For those of you unfamiliar with Jump In, you are presented with a choice of three themed packs that will be half of your deck. After you choose, you repeat the process for the second half of your deck. You get to know the name of the theme and colors, but even the cards in each theme have a few variations so you won’t know for sure what you’re getting until you’re done.

There really isn’t much else to tell you, but I’ll give you a few tricks right after this event info.

Event Details

Select two different half decks from a variety of themes in Alchemy. Combine them, and you’ll have a deck that’s ready to go.

Tips and Tricks

The best advice you can possibly get about jump in is to make sure you take a single-colored pack with your first pick. No matter how powerful you think one of the two color packs is, you REALLY don’t want to look at your second choice and realize you are now stuck playing an unsupported three- or four-color pile.

The next thing you want to do is try to make sure that your two themes are on a similar plan. It’s almost impossible to end up with ones that are doing the exact same thing, but try to make sure they are both aggro or both control plans.

That’s really about it as far as what you can do to maximize your chances in jump in. Outside of that the only thing I have to mention is that this event is phantom so you don’t get to keep the cards.
