Brawl Builder Challenge – Midweek Magic Event Guide

This guide will contain everything you need to know about the Midweek Magic: Brawl Builder Challenge event, including rewards.

Hey everyone! I’m sure you’re all incredibly excited for this week’s edition of Midweek Magic. I know you’re expecting me to make some vague reference to the initials of Brawl Builder Challenge, but I’m clearly above that. Wizards, on the other hand, seems to love that acronym because they keep running the event back with the same name.

If you’re new here, Brawl Builder Challenge is pretty simple. It’s a normal Brawl (formerly Historic Brawl) event, but your commander has to come from the current set. This article from the Secrets of Strixhaven event is a good example of how it works. Sometimes Wizards also allows commanders from the accompanying Commander set, but I’m sticking to the main set so I don’t have to rebuild everything if they change the rules at the last minute.

I know what you’re really here for, so without further ado, let’s get to the decklists… right after these messages.

Event Details

Choose one of our Marvel Super Heroes commanders and build a 100-card Brawl deck using any cards in MTG Arena (excluding those on the Brawl banned list)!

Hawkeye, Master Marksman

We’re not exactly reinventing the wheel here. Take a Brawl deck featuring everyone’s favorite monkey, Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer, swap him into the 99, and replace him with a cheap, aggressive commander from the current set.

This one’s for the people who want to blast through the event as quickly as possible. Burn anything that gets in your way, keep the pressure on from the very beginning, and swing for the fences.

Tony Stark

It should come as no surprise that Tony Stark loves artifacts. You can grind your opponents out with a steady stream of card advantage or suit up and flip Tony to his back side to start dropping bombs. Either way, you’re in for a (repulsor) blast.

The Mighty Thor, Jane Foster

Blink and you won’t miss it with this deck. Was that a good pun? It sure wasn’t, but it does a pretty good job of describing how this deck works.

The plan is simple: use Thor and a variety of other blink effects to repeatedly exile and return creatures and artifacts with powerful enters-the-battlefield abilities. The value just keeps piling up while your opponent won’t know what hit them… though I’d assume it was Mjolnir.

The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl

Are you ready to eat nuts and kick butts? Then this is the deck for you. I could make a ridiculous number of squirrel jokes, but that would just be nuts. Then again, every squirrel joke is about nuts, so I guess I’m a little limited.

Let’s be honest, though. If you’re choosing Squirrel Girl as your commander, you already know exactly what you’re signing up for. You’re here to flood the battlefield with an absurd number of squirrels and overwhelm your opponent under an avalanche of tiny, furry menace. I don’t really need to explain the appeal.

Budget Hare

Don’t want to spend a ton of wildcards on a random Midweek Magic event? As usual, Hare Apparent is here to save you from that fate.

There are a variety of commanders you can pair with it, but I went with an uncommon that wants to go wide and give your army of Rabbit tokens first strike. It’s cheap, effective, and more than capable of stealing a few wins without emptying your wildcard stash.
