Hey everyone! According to my calculations, we are once again rapidly approaching the middle of another week. I’m sure that we all know what that means. No, it’s not that. I don’t even see a slight correlation here. I’m just going to stop you there and tell you that it is time for another Midweek Magic.
This week we get a frequently returning visitor, the Brawl Builder Challenge. The BBC is normal Brawl (formerly known as Historic) with the limitation of only using a commander from the latest set. In this case, that will be Through the Omenpaths (aka definitely not Spider-Man).
This type of format makes so many appearances because it is easily modified for a new set as well as being highly played. It shakes up the format just enough to make it fresh and is gone before the novelty wears off. That sounds like the perfect guest to me.
Without further ado, we can get to your deck lists.
Event Details
Choose one of our Through the Omenpaths commanders and build a 100-card Brawl deck using any cards in MTG Arena (excluding those on the Brawl banned list)!

Format: Brawl Builder Challenge

Ends After: You can play as much as you like for the duration of the event.
Don’t let those other colors fool you, this is your typical mono red Ragavan Brawl deck without the benefit of the consistent turn one monkey. He’s obviously in the deck, you just don’t get to drop him all the time.
I know it says Gwen Stacy, but I can assure you that it imports as Nia, Skysail Storyteller. Realistically you could switch this commander for any other red one (from OM1) that you already own, this is just the one I would recommend.
Play a pile of legends with a whole bunch of counters. If nothing else, it certainly is enjoyable if they don’t have a board wipe. You even have a few back up plans for that scenario.
Same thing as above. It says Miles Morales, but will import as Cren since Arena is fluent in spider.
This turn one commander can be back breaking against someone not playing enough cheap removal. It can be especially lethal when you draw Mox Amber jumping you even further ahead while possibly being able to protect it.
In this case, it quickly piles up counters letting you play ridiculous spells on the cheap.
All it takes is one attack with Egrix and you can feel like you are comboing off. I was having a blast running this one even before the event so it’ll most likely be my weapon of choice once we kick off the festivities.
This I the perfect antidote for those of you who don’t want to waste a bunch of wild cards. It even has an uncommon commander to keep the price down. There are a few other options for the commander if you already have them, but I’ll leave that decision up to you.
Thanks for reading! I’ll be back in a week with your next edition of Midweek Magic where we discuss Historic Pauper. I know a lot of people are excited for that to come back. Until then, stay classy people!
