Hey everyone! We’ve reached the middle of another week which means it is time for me to do the same thing I do every week. Try to take over the world! I’m sure some old people understood that reference. Instead I’ll be slightly less ambitious and stick with producing content for Midweek Magic.
This week we will be rocking Historic Pauper. I know there are a lot of people that get excited about that and it even has a thriving community outside of these events. They tend to have a separate banlist, but WotC doesn’t follow it so you’re good to go in these events.
One of the best things about Historic Pauper is that your non-common wildcards are safe for this event. That gives you the ability to experiment without it taking a big chunk out of your wallet.
Some of the lists may say rarities other than commons, but every card is available at common on Arena.
Oh you just want the deck lists…fine…I’ll go ramble about this stuff to my wife as she pretends to listen.
Event Details
Bring a 60-card Historic deck that contains only commons and basic lands. Look for some common ground with all those cards you’ve drafted and build something new!

Duration: February 3rd, 2026 @ 2:00 PM PST to February 5th, 2026 @ 2:00 PM PST
Format: Historic Pauper
Entry Fee: Free
Ends After: You can play as much as you like for the duration of the event.
Typically we kick things off with a way to burn your opponent out with a swiftness. This is still just as fast, but goes hard on the Goblin Bushwhacker shenanigans instead of focusing on the direct damage.
It still bothers me that Frogmite is only available as a Mythic on arena when it should be a common as it was originally printed. Oh well, you still have a ton of busted draws especially ones involving Cranial Ram. Seriously, it is a messed up Magic card.
You can’t go wrong with making a ton of squirrels to swarm your opponent’s face. Sometimes this is going to blow up and sometimes it will go straight down the toilet. Not the deck to run if you’re just trying to get out of here with a quick W. As far as pauper goes, it has the highest ceiling for fun.
Pile a ton of auras on a dude and ask your oppo “Do you have removal or are we done here?” with a swiftness. Even if they have it, they have to hope you don’t have any of the cards to protect your dude.
