Hey everyone! The latest edition of Midweek Magic is Brawl Builder Challenge featuring Lorwyn Eclipsed. While “Let’s get ready to brawl!” doesn’t quite have the same ring to it as the rumble variant, the gameplay luckily makes up for the lack of memeability.
The challenge is to build a Brawl deck (formerly known as Historic Brawl) while using only cards from Lorwyn Eclipsed as a commander. That is a pretty limited list, but I did what I could with the tools I was given. I know you were expecting a Dad level joke about the BBC acronym, but that fruit is hanging way too low to want to deal with any of that.
I know what you’re really here for so without further ado, we can get to your deck lists.

Normally we take the latest Ragavan build and replace him with the sets cheapest red legend. Well playing Ashling, Rekindled didn’t have much upside in Mono Red. While Kirol is technically Boros, the lack of white mana doesn’t effect the power level. It has a decent amount of upside for double triggering on a serviceable body.
Do you want Goblins? Because this is how you get Goblins. Man that reference is so old that half my readers are going to want to ship me off to the retirement home.
Some people think red is a braindead archetype, but goblins actually has a ton of microdecisions built in. Granted it can still get those draws where you just turn critters sideways while your opponent has no chance, but that’s just upside.
Is this the best deck? I’m not going to lie to you and tell you that it is. It’s a themed event and this gives you the opportunity to play one of the most famous Lorwyn tribes. Some people prefer to have fun in these events and this provides that option with a chance at winning.
You can tell how sleep deprived I am by the lack of puns about selecting the perfect deck for this event. High Perfect Morcant is an amazing card when your opponent is playing a bunch of creatures which is exactly what everyone is going to be doing in a Lorwyn themed event.
Don’t want to spend a ton of wildcards? Good ol Slimetime makes an appearance to solve that problem for you. Unfortunately, there isn’t an uncommon commander to use so you do have to craft one rare for the deck.
Lluwen does have some nice synergy by guaranteeing a mill four on turn two to possibly ramp your slimes up. It even gives you some late game play if you end up flooding.
Thanks for reading! I’ll be back in a week with your next edition of Midweek Magic where we discuss Phantom Golden Pack Sealed. Until then, stay classy people!
