The second week of the Magic Pro League (MPL) Core Split features the Emerald Divison. Last week’s playoff between the Pearl Division was the week for Orzhov Vampires, with 6 of the 8 players bringing the deck for the round-robin. The meta has not changed much since then, so it will be interesting mind games between players as they try to bring a deck strong against the top archetypes – Vampires and Scapeshift.

Round-Robin The Round-Robin was held between August 12 to 14 to determine the top 4 play off. In an interesting turn of events, no players opted to play the two top decks of the format – Vampires and Scapeshift. Instead they brought decks that are strong against the two. Shoota Yasooka’s Esper Control deck looks to be well positioned amongst these.
