MTG Arena Mythic Decks of December 2023 – Week 4 – Calm After the Timeless Storm

Hi! I am Vertyx, and I would like to welcome you to my Mythic Decks of the Week article for the third week of December 2023! I will go over the most interesting decks that made it to Mythic on MTG Arena in the third week of December! Let’s take a look at all the decks that people reached Mythic with!

Explorer Dimir Phoenix by bro_lio – 97% Mythic – December 2023 Ranked Season

First deck to take a look at is Explorer Dimir Phoenix by bro_lio!

An interesting look into the archetype that completely cuts off red and chooses to play Black instead!

The blue part of the deck is basically the same as the UR phoenix variant with creatures in the form of Ledger Shredder and Picklock Prankster. And the same also goes for the cantrips which include cards like Consider, Sleight of Hand or Treasure Cruise.

And as for the Black cards, they provide removal with Fatal Push same as Red would with cards like Fiery Impulse. And on top of that they also provide maindeck disruption in the form of Thoughtseize which is a very powerful effect against controlling decks.

Second deck to cover is Timeless Rakdos Sacrifice by trail of magic!

Half of the deck looks like a normal Rakdos Midrange deck, but the other half embraces the power of sacrifice effects and enablers so it can attack the battlefield from different angles!

The “normal” part of the deck includes creature cards like Deathrite Shaman, Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer or Orcish Bowmasters. And also enchantments like Blood Moon and Fable of the Mirror-Breaker. All of these cards help the deck to get a quick control over the battlefield and quickly become a problem for the opponent with the produced value!

As for the sacrifice part of the deck, it includes the sacrifice targets like Bloodghast, cards that make the sacrificing beneficial like Mayhem Devil and the sacrifice cards themselves which are represented by Goblin Bombardment!

Timeless Esper Tempo by Julio Cesar Stoppa – Mythic – December 2023 Ranked Season

Third deck to cover is Timeless Esper Tempo by Julio Cesar Stoppa! This deck uses some of the strongest cheap creatures and interaction in Esper.

The creature part includes disruptive elements like Esper Sentinel, Orcish Bowmasters or Juggernaut Peddler, protection in the form of Giver of Runes, ramp in the form of Deathrite Shaman, and a strong value element in the form of Raffine, Scheming Seer.

The non-creature cards include some of the strongest instants in the format which are Brainstorm, Swords to Plowshares and Fatal Push. And also a supportive element in the form of Wedding Announcement.

And the last deck to cover is Timeless Sultai Midrange by cvdmtg!

Let’s separate the deck into parts starting with the threats! It includes ramp like Deathrite Shaman and Delighted Halfling, disruption in the form of Orcish Bowmasters, and Uro, Titan of Nature's Wrath which is just a very strong value engine.

Then we got interaction which includes disruption in the form of Thoughtseize, removal in the form of Fatal Push, counterspell in the form of Memory Lapse, and then a counterspell and removal in one which is Drown in the Loch.

And the last part of the deck are the planeswalkers which include Tyvar, Jubilant Brawler and Oko, Thief of Crowns.
