Hey everyone! It’s that magical part of the week where my wife wonders where I’ve disappeared to while hoping the shenanigans don’t land me in prison. Who am I kidding here. It’s more like that time of the week where she enjoys the brief silence from my incoherent ramblings while I’m building decks. That’s right, it’s another Midweek Magic.
This week we’re going to be playing MTG Arena Pauper. What does that mean? Well funny story really…nobody is sure.
WotC hasn’t updated their Midweek Magic page in literal months despite linking to it every week in their Arena Announcements. They normally have their calendar up to date with a little bit more information on it then the title, but it looks like they recently decided to stop updating that as well. That leaves good old Arena Announcements to provide the info we need, but they didn’t add a section to discuss it this week. There is only a list that says the title of the event.
After some digging, a developer on the official MTG discord (WotC_Dave) said that it was going to be standard pauper despite what it says on the announcements. Here is hoping that they are correct and that it will follow the same rules as the last one (i.e. no Hare Apparent or Slime Against Humanity). If not, then I’m not going to be able to know until the event itself launches and might have to rebuild all of these.
Yeah…yeah, that’s all that I needed to say. Just some event info and then you can get to the deck lists.
Event Details
Build a deck with only commons so everything is on a budget! Don’t judge me, I’m just making it up as I go here. Most likely Standard Pauper, but it could be a surprise.

Duration: June 10th, 2025 @ 2:00 PM PST to June 17th, 2025 @ 2:00 PM PST
Format: MTG Arena Pauper
Entry Fee: Free
Ends After: You can play as much as you like for the duration of the event.
Speaking of burn, it doesn’t always have to be red. You can drain away your opponent’s life conveniently putting yourself out of range of the aforementioned red deck (and let’s be honest, it’s MWM, there is always a ton of people playing some version of RDW).
It’s a lot easier to win a race to ten instead of twenty. Poison and proliferate your way through the game while possibly crossing that achievement off your list.
