Mythic Championship V Qualifier Weekend Top 128 Decklists and Metagame Analysis

The Mythic Championship V Qualifier Weekend is now underway! The top 1000 Mythic ranked constructed and limited ladder players from the three War of the Spark Seasons during May, June and July compete against each other to qualify for the Mythic Championship V tournament in October. You can find more information about the event here.

Update August 18: The qualifier weekend has now concluded with the top 16 players being invited to the next Mythic Championship tournament.

Top 128 Decklists

The first day has concluded with 128 players rising to the top, with results as good as 6 wins (and 2 losses) enough to progress to the second day of the event tomorrow. You can check out all the players and decklists below:

Metagame Breakdown

Below is the breakdown of the deck archetypes for the event – as expected, the top two decks are Vampires and Scapeshift.

Deck Spotlight

The deck of the moment was MPL player Brad Nelson’s version of Bant Scapeshift he used in Fandom Legends recently, with multiple players reporting excellent win records with the same deck for the event.

Another deck of the moment was the combo deck Stanislav Cifka, Ivan Floch and Ondrej Strasky bought to the event, involving a combo deck of Kethis, the Hidden Hand, Diligent Excavator and Mox Amber to mill out the opponent.

And below the typical decks we’ve seen so far, there are also a lot of one-off decks, such as Gruul Aggro, Grixis Control and Sultai Dreadhorde making a subtle comeback.

There you have it! It was interesting to follow various players’ streams and tweets to see their progress in this event. Day 2 of the event will see the top 16 players tomorrow qualify for the Mythic Championship V in October. Players must use the same decks they used for day 1, so it will be interesting to see players prepare themselves against the opponent’s decks.
