Standard Shakeup – Midweek Magic Event Guide and Decklists (Updated)
This guide will contain everything you need to know about the Midweek Magic: Standard Shakeup event, including rewards and our exclusive sample decklists.
This week’s Midweek Magic is Standard Shakeup! This is normal Standard, but this time, there’s a bigger ban list! This is a great opportunity to try out strategies you wouldn’t always be able to play in Standard or to see how the top decks fare without their best cards!
Players can enter the event for free, win some free Rare Individual Card Rewards (ICRs) and a random cosmetic item on the third win. Below is everything you need to know about the event as well as the list of decks you can use for this event.
Important note: The initial banlist published by Wizards of the Coast was not updated for the event, and it is still using the old Standard Shakeup banlist! It is unlikely this gets changed again (to the “correct” one) so we’ve also updated accordingly. 😑

Is it a DoggertQBones event article if I don’t have a Mono White Aggro list? Better yet, nothing from this deck was banned, so most likely, this is the best deck in the format!
On the other side of the spectrum, while still a Mono White deck, Mono White Invoke looks to play a longer game and go big with threats like Ao, the Dawn Sky and Sanctuary Warden.
The premiere tempo deck of the format, Mono Blue doesn’t necessarily thrive in a Bo1 environment, but if you love giving your opponent agita, this is the perfect deck to do it with.
If you want to roll people in the event, it’s hard to do better than Rakdos Midrange! This is chock full of extremely powerful cards that can overpower any opponent. Fable of the Mirror-Breaker and Sheoldred, the Apocalpyse was meant to be banned for the event, so it’s still a meta deck that you can play in this event (if you really want to).
The Chris Botelho special, Bant Midrange is a deck unlike any other in Standard that’s both very powerful and quite decent against the many aggro decks sure to be present in the format!
One of my favorite decks in Standard, Grixis Midrange has the best interactive suite in all of Standard, and despite many powerful cards being banned, still looks incredibly strong if you’re looking for some grindy games.
For the final list of the article, we need to end on the sweetest deck! Five Color Jodah is a wacky aggro deck that looks to go way over the top of opponents with Jodah, the Unifier to kill the opponent in one fell swoop!
