Greetings ladies, gentlemen, and Kavus, we are due for another spoiler session, this time is cowabunga time with our turtle friends at the helm leading the spoiler stampede, this is the current visual spoiler we have to dive deep into MTG card analysis.
Starting strong is the new Shark Shredder, Killer Clone a touchy reanimator creature, when it deals damage it reanimates a creature from that opponents graveyard into your battlefield, quite heavy on the mana side, but with a sneak cast option which makes it great for unblockable scenarios.
Next up is Dark Leo & Shredder a great two mana drop, even for its Sneak opportunity giving Deathtouch effects to all ninjas, and a big ability once 5 ninjas are on play to make your opponent lose half of total life points, a Sneak option, a token generating effect, and a lose half life effect? all in one card? -I am in!
Next up Donatello, Gadget Master a 3 mana mono blue ninja turtle that has an Sneak option, and on dealing damage it copies an artifact, this set heavily emphasizes on Sneak and dealing damage effects, this is a really good effect for more flexible formats specially Commander, having the option to copy artifacts is always amazing.
Another version of Donatello, Mutant Mechanic a 4 mana option to bringing life to your artifacts and making them creatures, this could heavily impact the vehicles and stations cards, as this card can make them creatures right away, sidestepping the crew and station effects, but for a 4 mana mono blue might not make the cut into the prominent cards field.
Krang, Utrom Warlord reminds me a bit of Darksteel Colossus and indestructible giant hitting play with heavily lined basic effects, Flying, Trample, Indestructible, Haste; this might make the cut into reanimator decks with other artifacts hitting play and also making them indestructible and hasty to a lethal attack on reanimation.
Michelangelo, Weirdness to 11 a small critter Michelangelo on ETB creating a Mutagen token, and +1/+1 recursion adding one more on each effect. we might see this card in earthbending brews, but it might take more cards to bring real efficacy.
Raphael, the Nightwatcher this time around with the surprise double strike effect on sneak, this card feels a lot like the Embercleave a prominent mono red instant double strike effect, hard to deflect or remove. an attack instant Double Strike source for all attackers is high attrition in my book, double damage dealt and perhaps protecting creatures from blockers on First Strike damage? Raphael is prominent in this scenarios all the while by 3 mana Sneak casting.
Turtle Van might be an interesting vehicle to put counters on creatures that crew it this turn, and doubling counters on Mutants, Ninjas, and Turtles.
This preview is sweet but short, let’s wait a bit more for the full visual spoiler to deep dive into our Turtle friends in MTG Card form, you already know it stay away from counterspells, they are bad for your health, see you next time!
