Top Mythic Standard and Historic Decks – August 2020 Season – Week 3

We are already in to the third week of the August 2020 ranked season and this will be the last chance for the top 1200 Mythic players to have their chance in the upcoming Mythic Qualifier weekend, which was recently announced to be Historic! We will explore how Standard and Historic have evolved over the past week and the stand out decks used to reach Mythic. Check out the previous week’s edition for even more decks:

MTG Arena Standard Mythic Decks of the Week

Not much has changed in Standard and things look stable, if not stale, even after the recent bans. The story repeats itself again with one powerful deck (Sultai) and the others trailing behind due to the ubiquitously powerful cards in the Simic (Blue and Green) colors. There is also not much incentive behind trying to break the format any longer until Standard rotation, as the attention has shifted to Historic with the fresh release of Amonkhet Remastered and the next major events revolve around Historic.

MTG Arena Historic Mythic Decks of the Week

We are now a week into Amonkhet Remastered and as predicted, Hour of Promise has given Field of the Dead decks a huge boost. It has been proposed that this controversial land is invaliding and preventing other non-aggressive archetypes to thrive, and will be interesting to keep an eye on ahead of the Mythic Qualifier and Mythic Invitational taking place on the weekend just before the release of Zendikar Rising on September 17.

Powerful staples like Thoughtseize and Collected Company are definitely making an impact, as players begin to find great homes for them, such as Rakdos Pyromancer and Jund Citadel, respectively. For now, the metagame looks to be centered around Field of the Dead, Mono Red, Jund Citadel, Auras and Rakdos Pyromancer. Sorquixe will be following up with a tier list update for us very soon, and we’ll be posting more guides to help you get started in Historic in the next few weeks.

This column is our weekly roundup of Standard and Historic decks players are using to climb the ranked ladder on MTG Arena! Our goal is to curate and post a variety of deck archetypes and interesting card choices at the end of each week to help you keep up to date with the latest trends in the metagame. If you have any decks you want featured, please use the deck submission form, tweet us at @mtgazone, or give us a shout on our Discord.
