First Batch of Spoilers
Agna Qel'a not so good land, high possibility to enter tapped, draw and discard source, might find home in weird archetypes that revolves around the discard effects, but could ultimately be used for draw but its quite costly to tap 4 mana for a draw and discard effect.
Waterbender ascension on the other hand is a better draw option in comparison that this is a 2 mana drop and on subsequent turns could enable draws on combat damage to a player, and not only that a Waterbend 4 option to make creatures unblockables.
Professor Zei, Anthropologist its a really good card option for commander or brawl deck that revolves around spellcasting or maybe a historic/timeless setting that uses recursion, this is only a 2 mana drop with the eventuality to regain access to a spell from your graveyard.
Elemental Teachings is a new rendition of the Realms Uncharted effect, choosing up to four lands the opponent chooses two lands to send to the graveyard, and the rest of the cards to the battlefield tapped, all at instant speed, this is a really good card across all formats for landfall decks to shine even brighter because at paper level its 2 landfall triggers at instant speed, its quite high cost but could be worth pumping quadruple damage onto Tifa Lockhart while attacking, Icetill Explorer could take advantage from the lands in graveyard with an additional land from graveyard hitting play.
Kyoshi Island Plaza searches for lands in the library per shrine and puts them on the battlefield tapped, this is another great option for the landfall decks but could turn in the wrong direction as too many shrines would be needed for an actual impact and all worded into a Legendary enchantment.
Earthbender Ascension for 3 CMC you get to earthbend 2 and search for a basic land and put it tapped into the battlefield, and also a landfall ability to put quest counters on it beyond the fourth you begin to put +1/+1 counters on it, and the real impact is on the trample source for creatures.
Combustion Technique is a good burn spell that deals more damage the more its being played on the game, and also with the “if that creature would die this turn, exile it instead.” effect.
Fire Nation Raider is a 4/2 critter for 4 CMC, whenever it attacks creates a clue token.
Second Batch of Spoilers
Combustion Man is quite the card to put up to judgment. This man has two outcomes either it destroys a permanent when it attacks or have it deal damage to an opponent, in case there isn’t removal most probably opponents will take the damage rather than let it destroy a permanent, and not only the trigger damage but the attack damage as well, but quite high CMC for its actual outcomes in play.
Wolfbat cheeky critter that is able to resurrect himself by paying a black mana when you draw a second card each turn, I this is going to end up into a discard theme archetype and then later or being resurrected by just 1 mana.
Fatal Fissure takes advantage on removals on the stack when a creature dies you have the chance to turn a land into a 4/4, but that’s my deal with earthbending it enables removals spells to target lands.
Sandbenders' Storm another removal spell with an earthbending alternative, and again not so much fan of enabling lands to be targets for removal.
Earth Kingdom Protectors 1/1 vigilance with a sacrifice ability to bring indestructible to target creature, Selfless savior would be proud of this card.
Destined confrontation I would dare to say is a good board wipe, its like cutting forces up to total power of 4, so it balences out the table, but if its a reanimator with a Valgavoth on play, you are 100% sure this card will get him out of play and bypassing the ward ability.
Boomerang Basics, so its Boomerang but better, well despite the nonland target, if you target your side of the board you’ll get a draw in.
The Boulder, Ready to Rumble another earthbender source, 4/4 for 4 not quite bad but enabling your lands to bring forth to the front of the battle I would advise against it.
Raven Eagle this cards want to downplay the carrion theme that basically eats whatever is dead and generating clue tokens out of it. this card is specially usefull to the current reanimator decks coming around, and whenever you draw more cards due to clue tokens you’ll drain life from your opponents.
Iroh's Demonstration is a great sorcery option to either deal with bunch of 1/1 tokens or deal 4 damage straight to one creature.
Fire Navy Trebuchet Defender Reach, Artifact creature, whenever you attack create a 2/1 colorless construct with Flying, named Ballistic Boulder tapped and attacking, sacrifice it at the next end step. quite the functional Trebuchet if you ask me.
Wrapping Up
Now that we are closer to the end of the spoiler season, this set is packing some great spells, dealing with lands and graveyard, as well some great forms of alternative mode spells, hope you are loving this set as much as I do, and with that Code is out again, protect your spells, and never play counterspells they are bad for your health!
