Folks more Avatar previews are here, we are on the last round of spoilers as the set officially releases on MTG Arena November 18th, so let’s take a look at this previews as we got some really interesting cards to close this cycle of spoilers.
Team Avatar, good enchantment buff reminiscent of Exalted a bunch of creatures send their best creature for attack and gets buffed based on quantity of creatures, and also a great removal for its discard effect.
Koh, The Face Stealer 6/6 for 6 CMC, great effects to depict its lore effect of stealing faces, great removal creature overall, I definitely think this card is going to be played a lot, as it is happening now with Vivi Ornitier and Agatha's Soul Cauldron making a creature a bunch of effects from creatures removed from the game, but this time with Koh we got a bit higher CMC which is a lot healthier for the metagame than the Vivi counterpart.
Realm of Koh is another rare land from the land cycle with effects, this land generates a token 1/1 Spirit Creature that can’t block or be blocked by non-spirit creatures. quite the weird unblockable effect but I think this land might find a home for life drain aristocrats decks.
Lo and Li, Twin Tutors 5 CMC legendary creature that “tutors” for a Lesson or Noble card, and also providing a lifelink effect for both, I think this card has potential for both commander and brawl decks.
Toph, Hardheaded Teacher 3/4 for 4 CMC, she is on the recursion side of things being able to bring back a spell by discarding a card on ETB, and you on spellcasting you are able to Earthbend 1, and if the spell is matched to a Lesson put an additional +1/+1 counter.
South Pole Voyager a 2 mana drop ally, whenever an ally enters you gain 1 life, but at the second resolution of this ability draw a card. what a great draw option for allies, this will definitely bring life to the Ally archetype.
Meteor Sword uncommon equipment, that is able to destroy a permanent on ETB effect. while also providing +3/+3 as equipment, I think this effect is direct reference to the Meteor Golem.
Rumble Arena Vigilance, and Scry 1 source on ETB, this land is meant to be earthbent, and gain traction with the Vigilance ability already in place.
Air Nomad Legacy simple buff for flyer creatures, with a clue generation ETB effect.
Foggy Swamp Vinebender 4/3 for 4 CMC isn’t quite scary, but being able to bypass small blockers and forcing the opponent to spend midsized creatures for a block all the while is able to get bigger by Waterbend 5 is quite on the big effort side of things.
Boar-q-pine a simple creature that is able to get bigger on each non-creature spell cast.
Ruinous Waterbending reminiscent spell of the good old Infest with additional option to gain 1 life point per creature death.
Canyon Crawler 6/6 for 6 CMC Deathtouch, generates a food token, and is a swampcycling card.
Accumulate Wisdom a kind of Ponder card. but revolves around lessons, and beyond the third lesson in graveyard this effect allows you to keep the three cards instead.
Vengeful Villagers 3/3 for 4 CMC, has a stun effect if you sacrifice a creature, might turn really good in limited as this card is basically diminishing opponent’s creatures by stunning them.
Water Tribe Captain 3/3 ally for 3 CMC, and for 5 is able to pump up power for your creatures.
Curious Farm Animals 1/1 for 1 CMC, that is a walking Disenchant, really good 1 mana drop.
And lastly, Phoenix Fleet Airship 4/4 flying for 4 CMC, is able to replicate itself if you sacrificed a permanent, by the third turn this card remains in play is able to fullfil the requirement for its last effect and remain an artifact creature.
Wrapping up
