Hey everyone! It’s time to dust off your Historic Brawl decks while only being able to use commanders from Avatar: The Last Airbender. It’s called the Brawl Builder Challenge because no one ever thinks through acronyms when they make these things. It really reminds me of the Champions of Kamigawa prerelease where they repeatedly had to announce that the set code was actually CHK during team name selection.
This type of format makes so many appearances because it is easily modified for a new set as well as being highly played. It shakes up the format just enough to make it fresh and is gone before the novelty wears off. That sounds like the perfect guest to me.
Without further ado, we can get to your deck lists.

This is your typical mono red Ragavan Brawl deck without the benefit of the consistent turn one monkey. He’s obviously in the deck, you just don’t get to drop him all the time. Zhao is a great little beater that can put a hurting on anyone trying for multicolor shenanigans.
Aang plays the tempo game with tons of cheap cards that annoy the crap out of your opponent. You’ll spend most of the game playing at instant speed while your poor opponent begs you to let something resolve.
Weren’t we just talking about not letting anything resolve? Wan Shi is another one that lets you play the whole game at instant speed before dropping your Hydroid Krasis with flash to refill. You’d be surprised how many times your opponent runs their creatures straight into it even though it is face up.
This is the perfect antidote for those of you who don’t want to waste a bunch of wild cards. It even has an uncommon commander to keep the price down. There are a few other options for the commander if you already have them, but I’ll leave that decision up to you.
Thanks for reading! I’ll be back in a week with your next edition of Midweek Magic where we discuss Foundations & Final Fantasy constructed. Until then, stay classy people!
