Per usual for my events, I’m always looking to play Mono White! While missing a playable one drop, this deck still seems quite reasonable even if you’re starting your curve at two.
It’s not often you get to play Mono Blue in these events, but here’s one of those rare opportunities. With plenty of cheap interaction, cheap threats, and access to Combat Research, you can play a rather reasonable tempo game plan!
Like Mono White, you better believe I’m always a fan of Mono Red in these events! This time around, our curve is fantastic, and we have access to some powerful options like Lightning Strike and Squee, Dubious Monarch.
While your curve is a little wonky compared to the other aggressive decks, you’ll have plenty to do early game and your threats are going to be better than your opponent’s most of the time.
Don’t worry Control players, I didn’t forget about you! While your colors are a bit demanding, you get access to a lot of powerful spells if you’re willing to go Dimir for this event!
With the slight expense of consistent mana, Gruul combines the best aspects of Red and Green so you know you have the best threats available to you and a fast clock.
An interesting blend of tempo and control, Izzet Spells can constantly shift game plans in order to quell whatever plan the opponent is trying to work towards!
If you’re looking to be really grindy, Orzhov has all the power of the Black cards and the powerful kicker White cards to get extra mileage out of your cards.
For the final deck of the list, we’re looking to get scrappy! Selesnya Tokens has a few powerful payoffs and going wide is helpful in a format that lacks a lot of strong removal options.
The last few Constructed events have been relatively low powered, and while that is likely the case here as well (although this format seems higher powered than Streets of New Capenna Constructed), this time around, these decks were not created equal. Rather than my top 5 picks, I’ll just do my top three as I believe these are leagues better than the rest.
Black’s cards are just so much stronger than the rest right now, but I do think Mono Red or Gruul could give them a run for their money. Never the less, if you were planning on playing the event, Mono Black is likely what you should go for.
