In this week’s MTG Arena Announcements, we prepare for the release of Dominaria United on September 1 to MTG Arena as preorders become available! Notably, Liliana’s card name is not revealed at all here, so we could be getting a reprint of Liliana of the Veil – as teased by Mark Rosewater. The other planeswalker is Jaya, Fiery Negotiator as previously revealed.
Along with that, the official preview season kicks off on August 18, 2022 at 9 AM PST with the Wizards Presents broadcast. It is set to announce a new cards, host of new products ahead of the rest of the year and beyond to 2023, and more. Preorders for Dominaria United Start Tomorrow!
The bundles for Dominaria United arrive in the MTG Arena Store tomorrow, August 18, and they’re packing in lots of goodies—some we can’t even reveal yet!
Tune in for an oracle’s-eye view of what’s coming up in Magic and Dungeons & Dragons, and then hang out for a deep dive into the set that has the Magic world abuzz with speculation and excitement, Dominaria United! Qualifier Play-In Best-of-Three This Friday, August 19!
Want to get into the August Qualifier Weekend so you can play your way into Arena Championship 1? If you haven’t already qualified, this Friday’s Best-of-Three Play-In event is your last chance to step onto that path to Magic glory!
Friday, August 19, beginning at 6 a.m. PT (13:00 UTC), you can enter the Best-of-Three Play-In and compete in Alchemy matches. But don’t wait, because entry closes on August 20, at 3 a.m. PT (10:00 UTC).
Perform well in the Play-In and you can earn an invitation to the August Qualifier Weekend, which kicks off right after the Play-In event ends, on August 20 at 6 a.m. PT (13:00 UTC)!
Qualifier Weekend Begins This Saturday, August 20!
This is the final Qualifier Weekend in which you can earn the coveted invitation to the first Arena Championship in September, where competition is fierce, players are top-tier, and the prizes are serious!
The August Qualifier Weekend is this weekend, with Day One entry opening on Saturday, August 20, at 6 a.m. PT (13:00 UTC) and closing two hours later at 8 a.m. PT (15:00 UTC)—don’t be late! Get the maximum wins, and you’ll receive an invitation to the Day Two event.
The Day Two event opens to entries on Sunday, August 21, at 6 a.m. PT (13:00 UTC), and closes two hours later at 8 a.m. PT (15:00 UTC).
The format for both days is Traditional Alchemy, so you’ll be facing opponents in Best-of-Three matches.
Not yet qualified for the August Qualifier Weekend? You’re in luck, because you can still squeeze into the running by entering the Best-of-Three Qualifier Play-In happening this weekend, immediately preceding the August Qualifier Weekend event!
Arena Championship 1, September 24–25
This is it! You’ve faced down your competition and scaled the Premier Play mountain to reach the peak, where the air is rarified and the playing field is arrayed with the very best players in MTG Arena!
September 24 and 25, the game is on during Arena Championship 1. This invitation-only, two-day event features major bragging rights, a massive total prize pool of $200,000, and a shot at an invitation to the Magic: The Gathering World Championship in 2023!
Early Access returns to the plane where Magic: The Gathering began. Join your favorite streamers and content creators in the first experience of Dominaria United in MTG Arena (and in the first attempts at cracking a new meta with the start of this year’s rotation)!
The Early Access event starts August 30 at 10 a.m. PT and runs through August 31 at 10 a.m. PT.

Qualifier Weekend Events
Qualifier Weekend events are two-day events in which eligible players compete for invitations to the Arena Championship 1 held in the fourth quarter of 2022.
Qualifier Weekend Day One and Day Two events open to entries at 6 a.m. PT (13:00 UTC) and close to new entries at 8 a.m. PT (UTC 15:00) each day. You must enter within this two-hour window—late entries cannot be accommodated.

Qualifier Weekend August 20, 6 a.m.–August 21, 4 p.m.
Arena Championships are invitation-only, virtual two-day events for players who qualify during one of the four Qualifier Weekend events.
