Outlaws of Thunder Junction Mastery

The Mastery system for Outlaws of Thunder Junction (OTJ) on MTG Arena is a way for players to receive in-game content through regular gameplay. It runs from April 16, 2024 until the release of the next major expansion Bloomborrow on July 30, 2024. Players earn rewards based on their current Set Mastery level, which varies for each specific Set Mastery.

Players may notice this Mastery is particularly longer than usual as the Standard set releases are far apart. There is a Modern Horizons 3 release coming on June 11, 2024 which MTG Arena is trying something new for (details soon), and will run concurrently with the OTJ Mastery.

Important note: When the OTJ patch releases and the new Mastery starts, players get a fresh set of Daily Quests, as well as a rest of the Daily Wins and Weekly Wins. Be sure to complete what you have active already, and advance your current Mastery as much as possible!

Below is the full breakdown of the Mastery.

Outlaws of Thunder Junction Mastery Level and Experience

• Duration: Set Mastery spans the duration of a set release, starting when the applicable set releases on MTG Arena until the following set is released. Outlaws of Thunder Junction Mastery runs from April 16, 2024 until the release of the next major expansion, Bloomborrow on July 30, 2024.
• Cost: The March of the Machine Mastery Pass costs 3,400 Gems.

A player’s Set Mastery level is based on the amount of experience they have earned through play. Players primarily earn experience by completing in-game Daily Quests, Daily Wins and Weekly Wins. Additional experience may be earned by limited time events or promotional items. You can also use the Mastery Calculator to predict what your final level will be, which can differ depending on how much you play!

• There are a total of 110 levels available in the Set Mastery with each level up requiring 1000 XP. All players receive rewards through Level 90, while players with the Mastery Pass will receive rewards up to Level 110 and beyond.
• All levels past level 110 will earn the player one Uncommon Individual Card Reward (ICR) that has a 5% upgrade rate.
• XP and Orbs from the previous Mastery are not transferred to this one, nor to the next Mastery.
• Players earn Mastery XP via playing the game regularly for a daily total of slightly over 1000 XP and a total of 7250 XP per week. Wins can be earned in any game mode; with the exception of Direct Challenge, and Bot Matches:
  • 500 XP from Daily Quests per day
  • 3750 XP from 15 Weekly Wins per week (250 XP per win) (up to fifteen; resets at 2 AM PDT). Weekly
  • Up to 250 XP from 10 Daily Wins per day (25 XP per win)
  • Note: Weekly Wins and Daily Quests counter are reset (15 wins and 3 quests) upon arrival of the new Mastery.
• Codes: Any existing free promotional codes can be redeemed to receive bonus XP:
  • Threads: 2,000 XP
• Events: Sometimes, there are catch-up events or free to enter events that grant Mastery as a bonus.

The Outlaws of Thunder Junction Set Mastery goes up to level 110. All players receive rewards through level 90, while players with the Mastery Pass will receive rewards up to Level 110—and beyond!
