The first week of MTG Arena’s December 2020 Ranked season has flown by, and it’s been a big week for competitive Magic: The Gathering. As we look forward to the release of Kaldheim in January, here is our regular round-up of the new and interesting Standard and Historic decks that have been shaking the metagame. Rivals League member Matthieu Avignon took this Selesnya Adventures deck to an early #1 spot in the season, and even took it to the Zendikar Rising Championship. Despite the deck name, it only really has two Adventure cards, Lovestruck Beast and Giant Killer (and a single copy of Shepherd of the Flock). It is built to be aggressive, finding a good home for your Bronzehide Lion and Luminarch Aspirant together.

Rakdos Midrange has faded out of the Standard meta, but Rakdos specialist Samsoni1 has made it work in his favor with his variation of the deck, splashing green for Korvold, Fae-Cursed King.

Kushiro sparked Standard with the Temur Obosh Adventures deck (originally with 64 cards!) and is back with another variation, this time featuring Yorion as the Companion. The deck leans more towards the ramp strategy, and it even has the full four copies of Scute Swarm to take advantage of it.

This is another Selesnya deck, this time a “toolbox” and “Death and Taxes” deck built around Fauna Shaman to fetch the creature you need for the current situation. Thalia, Guardian of Thraben is also featured here, which come from another Historic Anthology set if you never got the chance to play with them.

Another creature based Historic Selesnya deck with similar premises to above, but this time built around Collected Company. Fireshoes have been perfecting this deck over the past few weeks and have been finding good success in the current meta.
