Alchemy: Innistrad – Day 2 Decks from Across the Web

It's the second day of MTG Arena's newest format: Alchemy. Let's check in on what kinds of decks players have come up with so far.

Two full days have now passed since the release of MTG Arena’s newest format, Alchemy. The format, which is similar to Standard except that it contains rebalanced cards and a few other key differences, has also brought 63 format-exclusive cards to Arena designed for digital play.

With each new set that is released, we like to gather and examine a wide range of decks from across the internet as players work to solve the format. In this article, we’ll present all of the decks that we’ve gathered from the second day of Alchemy. If you’d like to jump straight to the decklists, we can’t blame you! Click here to skip to the decks.

In case you missed it, be sure to also take a look at our decklists from yesterday:

If you haven’t been following the latest about the new format, you can read all about Alchemy in our announcement article. We’ve also got a steadily growing collection of other Alchemy related articles and content; check it out below:

Now let’s get into it! We already discussed many of the archetypes you’ll find among today’s decks in yesterday’s post, so we won’t be going over those again here. With that being said, there are a few different archetypes that gained popularity, so we’ll touch on those briefly before we dive into the decklists.

Azorius Control

We did see a couple examples of blue/white control decks showing up yesterday, but the classic control archetype significantly increased in popularity in the second day of the format – probably due in part to the massive presence of mono-colored aggro and Werewolves decks.

Azorius decks got a ton of new cards to potentially play with, including two cards that can help reduce the cost of spells in hand: Geistchanneler and Discover the Formula. There’s also a fast new sweeper in the form of Divine Purge and the powerful new counterspell Absorb Energy.

We’re also seeing many control decks, Azorius or otherwise, trying out the mana rock that comes with a ridiculously powerful spellbook of cards it can bring to your hand: Key to the Archive. Not all of the Azorius decks we’ve been seeing include all of these cards; with the format being so new, there’s quite a bit of variety even within each archetype. No matter how you choose to build it, there are plenty of new Alchemy options for the Azorius control player.

Sacrifice/Aristocrats

Another interesting archetype we’ve been seeing posted online from several sources is Sacrifice. Usually in the form of Mono Black, these decks have gotten powered up by Alchemy: Innistrad, particularly by the card Sanguine Brushstroke. Sanguine Brushstroke puts three permanents onto the battlefield with one card, and one of them is the legendary Blood Artist – a notorious staple of aristocrats decks and combo decks alike.

Sanguine Brushstroke plays extremely well with the preexisting sacrifice-based shell that has existed in some form since back in the Standard 2022 format. The Meathook Massacre helps to drain the opponent out, while Lolth, Spider Queen keeps you stocked up on sacrificial fodder and Deadly Dispute and Skullport Merchant keep the cards flowing.

The sacrifice/treasure decks had been pushed down in the Standard meta in recent months, but perhaps the archetype is positioned to thrive in the new format.

Now the Decks!

Thanks for reading, and we’ll be back at you again soon with more content featuring Alchemy, the newly altered Historic format, and of course we haven’t forgotten about Standard. Now without further ado, here is the full list of decks from the second day of Alchemy: Innistrad.
