Cascade Singleton – Festival of Adventure Event Guide and Decklists

Festival: Cascade Singleton

Cascade returns to MTG Arena, this time in the form of Singleton! Double the potential of each of your spells in this weekend’s Festival of Adventure, where you can obtain another text emote and four of the Landfall Showcase card styles from Zendikar Rising. Below is everything you need to know about the event as well as our decklists you can use to conquer the event.

Event Details

In this week’s Festival of Adventure, we’ll explore one of Zendikar’s most unique features: the Roil. Zendikar’s mana is so powerful that the ground can’t even stay grounded!

Bring a 60-card Standard deck with only one copy of any card except basic lands, and change it at any time. Your first spell each turn lets you cat a spell of lower cost out of your deck! The following cards are not allowed:

Maelstrom Nexus Emblem

Whenever you cast your first spell each turn, exile cards from the top of your library until you exile a nonland card with converted mana cost less than that spell’s. You may cast it without paying its mana cost. Then put the exiled cards that weren’t cast this way on the bottom of that library in a random order.

  • Duration: October 24 2020 at 8:00 AM – October 26 at 8:00 AM
  • Format: Cascade Singleton
  • Entry Fee: 2500 Gold or 500 Gems
  • Ends After: You can keep playing, but rewards do not go past four wins.
  • Match Structure: Best-of-one matches (BO1)

  1. Zed Zed says:

Some of these decks are not thought through at all and have some absolutely horrible inclusions. Shatterskull Smashing should not be included in any deck because it does nothing when you cascade into it. All of the fight spells like Primal Might and Ram Through should not be included, because again, they are likely to do nothing when cascaded into. When I play a 2 drop on turn 2 and I cascade into Primal Might, it’s completely useless. This is basic Cascade mechanics. The event has been around millions of times already; you should know not to include cards like these.

X costing spells, and conditional spells like fight cards should never be included.

  2. Zed Zed says:

The Azorius Yorion deck, again, has a HUGE amount of counterspells that are always useless when cascaded into. They should not be in the deck, and they are clearly horrible inclusions.

The Selesnya Yorion deck is better, but with a huge amount of two-drops, you need more than just Gilded Goose as a one-drop to cascade into. Remove the (again, useless) Inscription of Abundance, which is horrible to cascade into, and put Adventurous Impulse in there instead, which at least always does SOMETHING when cascaded into.

    • Zed Zed says:

      Selesnya Ramp*, not Selesnya Yorion.

    • Daninja Daninja says:

I agree with the general points you’re making, but I think you are wrong concerning the Selesnya deck. Having guaranteed Goose on t2 is huge. Also Inscription is a good way to trigger the cascade emblem on the opponent’s turn, meaningful instants (e.g. not counterspells) are big value in this event. I also like kicker spells since once you ramp up, you can get better things off the cascade effect. And then triggering the emblem once on your turn, and once on the opponent’s turn via instant/flash is how you get really ahead.

  3. Agreed, wtf, it seems like nobody thought about event rules at all. These are just singleton decks that they couldn’t be bothered to adapt, waste of time.

  4. Daninja Daninja says:

Here is a more polished version of Selesnya Ramp, went 5-0 with it and none of the matches were close. I also have only Goose as a 1 drop, that is to guarantee that every 2 drop will always give you the Goose on t2, giving you access to 5 mana on t3.

had a very fast 5-0 with this list. Thanks a lot! it was fun to play!

      • Daninja Daninja says:

Thanks for the feedback, that’s nice to hear! πŸ™‚ It could most likely be tuned even better if we had the event out for longer, but I’d say it’s not that far from the optimal build. Also this deck is quite fun to play, I will most likely play a bit more with it even though I already got all the rewards πŸ™‚

    • Donpool Donpool says:

Jesus! This list can be bonkers! -176 final life to opponent thanks to Cobra Goose into Greenwarden into Scute Swarm. Had 276 triggers on the stack at one point!

    • Daninja Daninja says:

Currently 21-1 with the deck πŸ™‚ Only loss was to monored, who got into play both Torbran and the enchantment that makes everything deal 3x damage and then stole my 6/7 Yorion and killed me in one attack πŸ˜€ But my score is 5-1 against monored, so the matchup isn’t even bad πŸ™‚

    • Daninja Daninja says:

Last update, currently 33-1 with the deck πŸ™‚ Probably won’t get to play more games before the end of the event, but it’s been a fun ride. My latest build is this:
