Unfortunately, there are no Mastery XP rewards for this event, but from next week onward we will see a series of events over five weeks called Plane-Cation Chronicles that will.
What is Giant Monsters?
The in-game event description is as follows:
In Giant Monsters, whenever you cast a creature spell with converted mana cost of four or greater, draw a card! Narset, Parter of Veils and Nexus of Fate are banned in this format.
Each player has the Giant Monsters Emblem enabled:
Important thing to note here is that the emblem triggers when you cast the spell, which means you do not have to resolve it and it does not have to enter the battlefield. That means even if your opponent uses a counterspell, you still get to draw a card!
Also of note are the banned cards; Nexus of Fate is already banned in Standard BO1 matches, but players also cannot try and disable the Giant Monsters Emblem with Narset, Parter of Veils as it is also banned from this event.
From next week we should also see a series of events (that was teased last week with the 0.16.01.00 update) over 5 weeks – the Core Set 2020 Chronicles. Similar to War of the Spark Chronicles, these events should be free to enter and grant various rewards, including Mastery XP (1000 XP per event!). We will be covering all these events as they come, so keep your eyes peeled for them as well.
