Greetings Ladies, Gentlemen, and Kavus! we are due for another round of MTG Top 8 analysis where I cover the meta grounds of a MTG sanctioned events in Standard constructed format, evaluating and analyzing decks from the top 8 ups and downs, sideboards, matches, deck archetypes just to bring you all the information of what is currently Meta in top tier tournaments around the world.

This time we are looking into Necrotower Gamecenter Mexico, for

5th-8th

Simic Aggro – FranCK7

First of the list we got a Simic Aggro that features heavily Mightform Harmonizer doubles power of target creature until the end of turn, effectively turning mid sized creatures like itself, or Icetill Explorer easily beyond the 10th power, even small creatures like Sazh's Chocobo will nurture a bit their strength on the early turns or even dying to removal but eventually critters will be targets of Mightform abilities even twice a turn, bringing in the win easily, what I like to point out from this deck this is the culmination of the Meta improvement, you could think Tifa Lockheart has a place in this deck, but matchups don’t lie, Tifa could be good but dies easily and too much of investment is lost during the match, or Ouroboroid not being present is the same, to disregard completely the Selesnya Gearhulk meta altogether, I really like this deck for its simplicity and early power check with most other decks.

Selesnya Landfall – Ivansaenz

Selesnya Landfall by Ivansaenz, same premise as before Mightform Harmonizer is the core of the deck but this time different colors, this deck explores white protection and landtriggering options, yes that’s right time to honor the newly improved Path to Exile, in this form Erode, of course you will use Erode on your own creatures for more land triggers, worst case you’ll remove an opponent card from the battlefield.

What I like from this version is the use of Bushwhack either another mana fixing option or outright fighting a creature to death for a much clearer attack to your opponent, Keen-Eyed Curator is the graveyard denial option for this deck, easily removing reiterating creatures from reanimator decks by only using 1 colorless mana.

Izzet Spellementals – Edgar Emmanuel Rangel Páez

First Izzet Spellementals deck of this list so far, I’d dare to say the core of this deck is Prismari Charm not because it will deal the damage necessary to win the game, but being able to maneuver through the match while bouncing up your opponent board state back to their hand, while you do your elemental setup is key here.

This deck wants to bully the opponent in the stack the early turn for a messy development later on, Flow State I would say is another form of Ponder but if you meet the condition having another Instant or Sorcery in the graveyard let’s you keep another card.

As for winning the game, this deck will use Eddymurk Crab while the opponent doesn’t have a boardstate, and Sunderflock will make your opponent Concede faster than Split Second.

Izzet Prowess – Antonio Guzman Vazquez

Izzet Prowess tries to stomp a Slickshot Show-Off with a Ball Lightning fierceness into the opponent, Slickshot will enter play or plot for a sinister next turn, on the attack this deck will sling spells left and right for power ups or counterspells, dealing damage and putting the opponent into defense mode, this is what this deck shines on, while the opponent is on the ropes this deck can still continue into working their way into further developing their boardstate, Stormchaser's Talent is still relevant to this day, bringing more recursion options for further casting spells, Boomerang Basics is for further recursion on your side of things with a draw card option, but what I like about this deck is the compromise on damage, using Wild Ride sorcery power up that for our little Slickshot fella turns into a +5/+0 effect.

Superior Doomsday – Dagoberto Silva

A surprising standing on Reanimator Dimir with Kavaero, Mind-Bitten, if successfully cast this card will turn into Doomsday Excruciator making it a battle of attrition, into a situation where the opponent has no way of developing a boardstate with little to no cards to draw, making it barely impossible to win against it, this deck will prioritize into controlling the early game with either discarding and removing pieces of the field until the reanimator comes into play and let the reanimated to their thing

4/5C Control – Daniel Rodriguez

Okay Jeskai Revelation if you haven’t encountered it by now on MTGArena, this deck wants to turtle the game and be as controlling as possible until it is cast, this seven mana Jeskai card is going to be cast the moment the opponent has a glimpse of hope into doing something in the match, and guess what? it goes to your hand, let me put on the battlefield 2 1/1 prowess cute monks into play that will attack you with 2 spells on the stack targeting you or your boardstate, yeah real fun, and guess what they will leave mana untapped to further damage your psyche counting counterspells available trying to deal with these monks, but guess what? another Revelation is going to be played, either you board wipe, and guess what? another revelation is going to be play, 7 mana available is the turning point for this deck, it will play it safe and defense mode until the Revelation gets played, 4 damage, a spell or permanent into hand, 2 monks into play, draw two cards, and gain 4 life.

At first glance you might think it’s unfair, it does so much, by 7 mana, but after much thought and the things that have come through Standard constructed lately, I am just gonna let it slide, the only part I don’t really like is the bounce option, that is just plain unfair and being able to target a permanent type on the stack, yes I am crying a river it’s time for you to ward it.

Superior Doomsday – Francisco Avila

Another runner up driven by a pesky reanimator fella Kavaero Mind-Bitten will target Doomsday Excruciator exiling both deck face down except the last 6 cards making it a battle of attrition with only minimum resources available, cards being exiled faced-down makes it impossible to even have the information that a possibility for a win is available, this brings uncertainty while your opponent has to deal with a 6/6 flying, and Quantum Riddler might be avialable for an early attack, or accompany later on the Excruciator for attacks, making it the deadly win, this deck is synonym of madness, obliterating options for your opponent its not about dealing with the table anymore, if you can’t counterspell Kavaero Mind-Bitten or exile the Excruciator from the graveyard early enough, you don’t stand a chance.

1st

Izzet Prowess – Javier Castellan

Another Izzet Prowess for the win, Javier Castellan with a simple combination of Slickshot Show-Off and that both cover the early and late game aspects of the match, often what ends up happening with the Slickshot is that gets removed into oblivion basically a lightning rod for removals getting all the attention, when that happens this deck is able to transition into mid game more easily into fetching from top deck options to further develop a boardstate with Stormchaser's Talent or Roaring Furnace // Steaming Sauna, if the Slickshot doesn’t get opposition is a clean win, easily set up, if not, you can expect Flow State and Boomerang Basics, and Burst Lightning killing creatures.

Once the Eddymurk Crab shows up it’s gameover, freezes the boardstate, and continues to reiterate the graveyard for a win. This deck uses Ghost Vacuum and Get Out as options to deal with graveyard menaces, it really doesn’t trust counterspells much which kinda hints it won’t fight back the opponent boardstate but rather trust into building their own, and from seeing this deck I trust Javier is an avid sideboard strategist into transitioning into the other matches with better options catered to win against their opponents.

Wrap up

For a wrap I’ll take the note of sideboarding a little more serious as we get tons of archetypes even tho Izzet has been prominent for quite a while, there are good contenders for the next Meta king, Ouroboroid still tries to be here present, but it seems mono green or core green splashes try to circumvent their Izzet foes, it seems Green is tied to ramp up early transition into power ups, while Izzet is already powered up the early turns with strong attacks from Slickshot show-Off, as for Code, I am still playing mono white tokens, or some type of white weenie, I think that is a hidden gem I am currently working on, I will go up the ladder once again during June, hit me up on Discord what do you think are the hidden gems in Standard.
